Any way to connect to the internet using a regular cordless phone…
and the RJ-11 port on my laptop? I have a wireless network at home but sometimes it would be convenient to send a fax without having to take the laptop to the nearest phone jack. I’m not talking about using a Skype, Voip or cell-phone but jut a regular cordless phone that I could connect to my laptop.

I have an alternative setup. My printer/fax/scanner has its own NIC. When I'm on my laptop, I can print to my printer over the wireless network. If I still had a land line, I could hook up the printer to the phone lines and send the command to fax over the network to the printer.

My multifunction doesn't have fax capability. I could send a fax using my network and the fax software on my old desktop that my DSL modem is connected to but since the desktop uses Windows ME and MS will stop issuing security patches for ME after July 11, it will be risky just turning on the desktop after that date.

You'd probably have to find a special cordless phone that had a data jack in it similar to the jacks in hotel rooms. I'm not even sure such a beast exists. It would function similar to some cell phones that can be used as modems for PC's. Really it's kind of a dead technology, so I'd be surprised if you could find such a thing. If you were an electronics whiz you could probably rig something up yourself with a knife, drill, soldering gun, etc..., but sounds to me like more trouble than it's worth.
