OC Guys: Lubemaster/BBQ Meet Friday Night 6/16!

The Lubemeister is in town! We're planning a small get-together at my place for a bit of BBQ and Porsche viewing action. For $500 each, I'll take you for a spin around the block in the F-car. Rides will be free after 6 beers. Let's throw in some drinking and bull$hitting as well. This is short notice, but go ahead and cancel any plans you may have and head on over. I'll have soda and beer on hand, as well as grilled chicken and burgers.

Time: 6:30 PM

Where: xxxxxxxxx

PM me for my phone number if you need it.

Mike - I'm gonna call you tonight and tell you about this - I promise

RSVP by responding here on the thread. I'll be posting over in the tech thread as well. See you tomorrow night!

Richard,

Were you on the 405 heading south about 9am today, in the yellow horse?

Wish I could join you, but the wife is ready to give birth any moment.

Michael

Todd;

Wanna meet up? I am doing the same. Will be on the BMW. Should I bring a transponder for you for the 73?

Michael, sounds like a plan. Where will you be coming from? I'm at work in MDR right now, will likely head home about 4:30 or 5pm. I live right near Santa Monican Bl and the 405. I figure once we hit the car pool lane near LAX we should be golden. If you have a transponder that would be great. I probably need to head back north around 8:30pm but I can fly solo if you're still hanging out.

Todd;

Got the info. Will bring a xponder, bikes are free and the 73 saves some time. I am leaving the valley as we type (is 104F in the hangar) and will be on the westside. You have my number, call me when you are 15 away from leaving the house. I am free to navigate for the return, so anytime is good.

Tabs - if you're gonna give me grief, at least get out of that hell-hole and come over here and do it in person.

Michael - Good to have you here... ride safely.

Todd;

The traffic on the 405 was completely stopped from the Valley to the Inglewood Ave. offramp where I got off to come to the boat. Carpool lanes stopped too. I'll bet I passed (literally) 10,000 cars.

Lets plan on meeting at the bottom of the Inglewood Ave. offramp. Easy off and back on. Stay in the left lane as you exit, and do a left U-ee right back onto the on-ramp. I'll be sitting there. Call me when you leave your place.

grumble grumble grumble...

Well guys, have fun without me. hopefully Michael is already there and has given my regards/regrets. A rear flat in the carpool lane of the 405 during rush hour on a Friday evening is not my idea of fun. But cyclists are a great bunch, and a guy stopped who had a patch kit and small compressor. On the second try it held. I thought about continuing down, but decided not to anger the gods further, and instead gingerly cruised back home.

I'll see most/all of you in the AM. Assuming my car does not suffer a similar fate. Tip one for me.

It's always great to be able to put a face to the personality and screenames. Chris (84Porsche) and Mike (89turbocabmike) I had met before at various runs here or TRE, so it was nice to meet the Lubemeister and Scott. Lube's wife wasn't there, but he brought pics of his kids, so that was almost as good. Scott and I pass each other airbourne all the time, now we'll know what to listen for.

Richard's place was fantastic. He has everything needed for modern man there, Ferrari, Ducati, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, and the best of all, Lili.

Had a great time, Todd, you were missed.

Perhaps it was better you went back from the flat, I saw and had to deal with more drunks and rowdys on the road last night than I have ever seen on a Friday night. Not a single cop anywhere to be seen. If I could have found one, I'd have been swearing out an ADW on a drunk. The last time I saw him he left the freeway doing 80. Unfortunately, there wasn't an offramp where he was exiting. A car dealership along the 405 in Carson has an extra used car in their inventory this morning. Didn't look like anyone was hurt, there were lots of other witnesses, so I didn't stay. What an idiot.

Hope the run today goes well, you should all have good weather for it.
