Dealing with crazy neighbors - what to do?

I got this neighbor a couple of houses down behind some woods. he likes to hit golf balls off his property.

The problem is, they keep landing on MY property. sometimes I hear them hitting our roof and I've been collecting them from the back yard. I must have about 15 or so.

One day it's going to damage a window, smash into my 911, or worse, hit me or my family on the head and cause an injury.

so how do you handle this? I'm about to visit my local police station and file a complaint.

thanks

well either go to the cops or................get yourself some surgical tubing and a soup can. after cutting the top off the can poke a couple of holes in the top 180 deg. apart. place a piece of tubing thrugh each side . Attach the other ends of the tubing to a couple of trees or door frame ect. Whammo instant catapult. You can let him have his golf balls back!.
You should just ask him to stop, safer for all concerned

Talk to him first and tell him you have some delicate and expensive stuff around and you wouldn't want to have to serve him with a bill for thousands of dollars worth of repair work. Maybe suggest a driving range locally?

If that doesn't work, lobbing 'em back against the outside walls of his place at about 3AM would probably work.

Face to face...let him know his slice or hook is unacceptable. Don't escalate should he take offense. You'll know what to do after your chat.

Best of luck.

Just get a 3 wood and 'help' him by returning his balls.

A letter from your attorney........

Confrontation with an idiot is not healthy.

Attorney first?

Go talk to him, if you are worried about confrontation take some pepper spray in your back pocket. What is the world coming to when you have your attorney contact your neghbor for you?

It may be a teenage kid and the dad is unaware.

A polite, non-confrontational chat should fix it. If not, send a letter assuring him that you expect his behavior to stop and that he will be financially responsible for any damage/injuries. Keep copies. Can't imagine why you would need a lawyer at this point.

Politely talk to him first. Document everything- time, what was said, etc. That way if you have to involve the cops/go to court you'll be in much better standing. Good luck- I hope this works out.

Cheers,

Paul.

Gradual escalation is the way to go. A letter from your attorney takes it up to the "legal proceeding" level right away. Maybe it's something that you can work out with a civil conversation. Going ballistic right away makes you a long-term enemy and also takes away your tools if you do have to get rough later. Be smart and go talk to the guy.

My answer of a letter from the attorney is based on the situation out here in AZ where the police, animal control, etc. leave it up to the individual to "confront". THere have been a number of instances where physical altercation have resulted. Any individual stupid enough to knock golf balls in a residential area has no concept of proper behavior and the best way is to cut 'em off at the pass.

Just my opinion based on a bad neighbor where four of us got together and confronted the individual. We threatened legal action. The neighbor got the message.

Go and hand his golf balls back, then give him the golf pro page out of the yellow pages, and tell him his drives suck big time.

Now THATS what I'm talking ABOUT.

See, it take a man of action to get anything done

Start with a Molotov cocktail, then escalate from there.

Ryan wins.

I follow his lead. Sounds like a great excuse for the neutron bomb to me. Have at it.
