Moneyguy1- jorian says that GW was caused by hot air?
Nope. Was just commenting on 914GT's link to a paper disputing the cause of GW. Nothing in it (it was only a paragraph or two) convinces me that GW isn't the cause of CO2 emissons.

This is from CNN.com this morning - top story:
Study: Earth hottest in 400 years The Earth is the hottest it has been in at least 400 years, probably even longer. A panel of top climate scientists told lawmakers that the Earth is running a fever and that "human activities are responsible for much of the recent warming." It's hard to imagine that people still think the technological age beginning only 125-150 years ago has had this much impact on the earth's climate. It's even harder to understand that some still believe current global warming is fundamentally a natural cycle.

Face reality, brother, all sides act the same once in power. That's the reason they want power in the first place - to institute their beliefs into government policy and move the culture in a direction that makes them happy and comfortable.

Supposedly, we had a similar "warming" period in the 1920s/30s. I read an article in Popular Mechanics years ago that quoted newspaper articles from the 1930s that could have been written yesterday. They were all freaking out about "global warming". The funny thing is that the Earth then started cooling and continued to do so for the next 40 years or so.
Does anybody have any details about what went on in the 1930s? While I am convinced that the Earth is warming (heck, it's 97 degrees outside right now with a heat index in the low 100s), but I am not convinced that there is anything we can do about it. Seriously. We cannot pinpoint to what extent "greenhouse" gases are contributing to the current warming. If we can't quantify that, then how can we quantify the mitigation of global warming by reducing the output of these gases? Can we really substantially reduce the output? I doubt it. Should we try? Maybe. We might simply be along for the ride at this point. Mike

Already they are confused.
Earth is hottest now in 2,000 years, according to study that says humans responsible for much of the warming Study Says Earth's Temp at 400-Year High Take your pick. 400 years. 1000 years. 2000 years. The earth was as hot or hotter then before significant human activity. |
