So if they caught Timothy McVeigh on his way to Home Depot or wherever to buy a truck full of fertilizer he was not a serious threat, after all, he did not have any explosives yet. When Clinton was President, Osama bin Laden was not a serious threat either by this logic.

Why in the world did they catch these guys? Don't they have better things to do? I mean, they could be out catching somone going 50MPH in a 45MPH zone!

Thanks for the red herring argument, when what is really at work here is racial profiling, which was part of many decisions these guys were less a threat than the FBI bolstered them up to be.

Oh and the point of my "red herring" was to point out the fallacy of waiting until everything is in place to blow something up, or worse, until debris is flying around and people are wondering how this could have happened.

You can oppose racial profiling because it is "wrong" if you like, but if you know for certain that 99% of the people you are looking for are going to be male, middle eastern descent and talk funny, who would you be talking to? (assuming you were in law enforcement)

Oh, and a little bonus question for you. Say you are driving around lost in one of the sketchier areas in LA with your family, you see a group of young black males with red doo rags. Do you stop and ask them for directions, or do you think, man those guys look like gangbangers?

Actually, just a reverse of the procedure that they used to get here. Pack up their stuff and put 'em on a plane and say "You're not welcome here anymore. Buh-Bye." It may take twenty years or so to complete but it would be very doable. Asian countries (like Saudi Arabia) do such things all the time.
