Fake Ferrari?

Ok guys my g/f just back from Italy, Monaco, and France, and well I sent her out on a certain mission: to take pictures of cool cars. I have taught her well in the past two years and she has quite an eye for a teenage girl, (she can tell model years of the 911's!) Well she saw this ferrari, well at first I thought it was a testarossa, but something just doesn't look right. can anyone clue me in on anything? Or has it been modified?
thanks!

oops forgot to add the pic

and what I believe to be a real TR

The first one that looks different appears to be a real 512TR with the side strakes removed around a 1993 model. The second Testarossa is around a 1989-89 I believe.

Hmm, I think the first one may even look better.

Yeah I like the first one more, something about the door slats removed or something, just looks more clean.

I've always loved the 512. Great car. I'm also partial to the 456 (call me a heathen, go ahead) but I've never managed to actually see one in Rossa, always silvers and greys.

The first car is sexy as all hell. Love it. Yea, the Testarossa is a classic, but given a choice I'd go for that first one any day.

If that is a replica - they did a darn fine job about it. I'd say its real - anyone who tries to pose as a Testa Rossa - is going to have those slats.

thanks again guys, usually when I see replica's of TR's the almost always have the door fins, they are iconic to this car. But this car either left them off or is a totally different car altogether.

Lube - Thanks! Yeah I was kind of worried her and her friends were going to party to much on this trip.

K. Roman - she has two younger sisters; 3, and 6, so she acts like a kid even though she is 18.

Most replica's leave the roof alone - only someone realy realy serious would of built one that close - all the window glass is the same, the roof, etc. I'm very sure thats a real one. Its not a different car, enless you consider the modifications done to it to make it so.

I recall reading something about the side strakes along time ago. The original design was sans strakes, but regulation (I can't remember if it was US or a Euro-state) required Ferarri to put the strakes over the opening. I guess they were afraid a dog or small child might get sucked into there.

Kinda reminds me of the rubber lip on the Carrera and Turbo spoilers on 911's...yeah...like someone is going be cut in two by the spoiler.

Actualy - there have been a few cases of F1 cars stripping workers apart. I do not recommend you look it up.
