Could you pass a US citizenship test?

Post your scores. Be honest.

Overpaid Slacker 06-27-2006 06:23 AM

You answered 100% of questions correctly. Here's your rating:

0-20%: Maybe you're still thinking too much about the Old Country -- and that's where you should probably be.

25-40%: Mmmm. Do you really want to be a citizen? This kind of performance isn't going to impress those nice immigration folks.

45-60%: Not too bad, but you really need to break out the civics books again -- word is, the INS is looking for an 80 percent score.

65-80%: Hey, you may make a good citizen yet! Look at your wrong answers and a little revision should do the trick.

85-100%: Welcome to the United States! (And, truth be told, you know more about this great land than most Americans.)

First try. Really.

Honestly, I just got 100%.

Rick Lee 06-27-2006 06:28 AM

I missed #19 on the INS form. But since the INS no longer exists, I think it's a bogus question. I wonder what the form is called now that it's part of USCIS.

Christien 06-27-2006 06:30 AM

> You answered 70% of questions correctly.

But I have a good excuse :D

widebody911 06-27-2006 06:31 AM

I got 85% - I missed the original 13 states, the year of the constitution, and the INS form.

Living in the 51st state is a good excuse?

legion 06-27-2006 06:33 AM

90%.

I missed which ammendment did not have to do with voting rights (I don't know most ammendments after the first 10 by number).

I missed name of the form for naturalization. (Why would I even know that?)

Joeaksa 06-27-2006 06:38 AM

85%, missed the INS form...

vash 06-27-2006 06:44 AM

i am offically mexican, now.

Rick Lee 06-27-2006 06:46 AM

The 7th Amendment isn't on the tip of my tongue either. But I know there's no mention of voting in the Bill of Rights. So I got lucky there.

coloradoporsche 06-27-2006 06:48 AM

You answered 95% of questions correctly.

jriera 06-27-2006 06:54 AM

6 years ago I did answer all the questions correctly and I got the citizenship... Does that count?

It was not easy doing it face to face!!

D'oh!

I picked the 24th Ammendment, I was thinking that one repealed Prohibition. But's it's the 21st, right?

Just an uninformed slacker I guess. Better than the people that Letterman talks to on the street, but definitely not 100%. I never was much for Govt class.

Only one I missed was the name of the naturalization form. The test is pretty simple, really.

Tim Hancock 06-27-2006 07:29 AM

95%.... Missed the 7th amendment. I must admit that I was not 100% confident of all of my answers.

dtw 06-27-2006 07:49 AM

I had to guess on two or three but I guessed right.

Porsche-O-Phile 06-27-2006 08:02 AM

Why do I NEED to pass a citizenship test? I can just stroll across the Mexican border, get a tax-free "yob" or two, get a driver's license under a fake name, run up a few credit cards and then default on 'em (and stick the Americans with the bill) and send all the stuff and money back to Mexico. If I do it right, I'll get free health care, free education for my kids and free money too.

What's the incentive for citizenship again?

artplumber 06-27-2006 08:06 AM

I don't know the ammendments by number (except the 2nd). And i guessed at the INS form number. The only gubmint form I know by number is the 1040.

Maybe you can catch a ride with Alec Baldwin;).

84porsche 06-27-2006 09:50 AM

You answered 90% of questions correctly - I got these two wrong -

Which of the following amendments to the Constitution does NOT address or guarantee voting rights? I could not remember the amendments. I need to refresh my US history.

Who has the power to declare war? - I picked the president but I was thinking back to December 8, 1941 when FDR asked Congress to declare war. My mistake.

red-beard 06-27-2006 09:52 AM
