Portugal Finds

Unfortunately I can't say I found this barn car . I was called to provide a valuation for an estate two years ago and it was not for sale. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170609323.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170609347.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170609361.jpg

Jeff that one is worth asking again. Looks to be in good shape.
|
Yes not perfect but overall great starting point for such a desirable car. taken off the road in 1969 so on the road for about 11 years and off the road for more than 35. Selling was never one of the options, ( unfortunately.) It went right from the barn to a restoration shop. a few more teaser shots http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170621303.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170621318.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170621329.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170621341.jpg

I found this while doing some corvair research.

Porsche930dude,
I too had a Willy's as my first car. My dad and I bought two, one with a good rebuildable engine and drivetrain and one with a good solid body. We put the good parts together and made one really nice one. Well, it was not really as easy combining parts as it sounds - not all of them fit. I did a frame up restoration on that puppy, painted it black and chromed all the handles. Installed a roll bar and some bigger wheels/tires. Absolutely *****in' for a 16 year old at the time. That is long gone, but we have a '48 Willy's with less than 14,000 original miles on it. Have had it for some 20+ years and use it to pull airplanes in and out of hangers. Got it from a fire department somewhere in CO I think. Still has my old wheels/tires on it. Here is my "barn find." Sorry it is not the typical dust and rust crusted car with an interesting story. Just owned by the same guy for 23 years and not driven any in the last 10 or 12. Bought this in May '06. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1171918728.jpg |
Super clean Scott!! Got more pics?
