Cars (the movie)
Saw it last night. Very cool/fun. Some might say "oh, it's a kid's movie" but I disagree. Plenty to see/enjoy for kids or car enthusiasts that want to feel like kids.
Greatly enjoyed it. Nice to see Pixar kicking some butt as always. It was characteristically very well done and enjoyable. I do wanna' know how much Porsche paid to Pixar/Disney for the "product placement" with Sally the Carrera though. Ditto Ferrari (see the movie and you'll understand). Anyway, it's worth the nine bucks. Go see it. It'll put a smile on your face. First time I've been able to say that about something out of Hollywood in a very long time. . .

Thanks for the comments. I might check it out with my son tomorrow - I anticipate he will LOVE this flick.

I saw the Making of Cars and from what i understand, the porsche was chosen because of its lines and curves... Its kind of like a Casting call of cars. and the 996 fit the bill for the character.

Cool. I've been dying to take my daughter to go see it. She's just now getting old enough to sit through a movie and she'll love this.

this was so enjoyable that even a theater full of light up sneaker wearing, foot shuffling kids didn't diminish it for me.listen for click and clack as the rusteze bumper ointment guys. very funny. i guarantee that grown ups will like it.

Look in May issue of Panorama. Article on page 30 including a picture of an actual full size Sally created from a 1999 996.

Great movie! Loved the rabid Ferrari fan jokes too. Even if you have no kids to take to this one check it out it was a lot of fun. I dare say Dad had more fun at this one than my kid did. A definate addition to the DVD collection when the time comes. Loved Richard Petty / King, Cows, and VW Bugs to name a few. Lots and lots to laugh at.

Great movie. Great characters and the whole NASCAR side of it was really well done. Lasseter (director) and the rest working on the film did a nice job of research. For example, Sally the Porsche sounded like a Porsche if you listened closely enough.
The Route 66 side of the story is very true. Superhighways built in the 50s took away the mystique that was part of crossing the U.S. on 66. It's been a long time since there's been a movie like this which can play just as well for adults as children. "Life Is A Highway" is such a cool song!

This was such a great movie. Porsche didn't pay for product placement, Disney/Pixar went to them - http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/060605/20060605006277.html?.v=1
Took them five years to develop "Sally" Carrera.

Went last night and enjoyed the move, can not wait for it to come out on DVD. We missed a lot of suttle items in the movie.

I took my 3 year old son yesterday afternoon & he made it about 1.5 hours (new record) before asking to leave. I was enjoying the movie so much, I made him sit through it all. Good movie, can't wait for the dvd.

I saw somewhere yesterday (MSNBC.com?) that they wanted to use an old one. When they discussed it with PCNA, they wanted them to use the current model year, which then was 2002.

I see the movie tomorrow at the El Capitan. Should be fun... hoping my son enjoys it. I've already bought a number of Sally items... looking for a poster for work and a tank top with Sally on it. Hope to find these tomorrow after the show.

I guess I just don't get it. Cindy loves Pixar stuff. It's still just cartoons to me. After having just been force fed both of the "Toy Story" cartoons on broadcast TV, I could happily live out my remaining life without seeing another Pixar cartoon.

Fun great movie. Amazing animation - look at trees, grass, reflections, etc. Love the stereotypes: Ferrari fans, midwest minivans, ricers, blinged out SUV's, the governator, I love it!
One hint (as with all Pixar movies) - stay through the entire credits.

I loved it. I saw it at the local drive in which was PACKED!
It timed out perfectly with the local new bug club's drive-in night. Especially with the final credits! Britt |
