Any Fans of Doctor Who?

Call it a guilty pleasure but everytime I fly to Canada (which is at least once a month) I fly Air Canada and select Doctor Who for an inflight movie and then watch it on CBC. Not sure when it airs back home. Interesting human insight, anybody else into this?

Absolutely. I've been a fan for years, and have seen most of the very old shows.
I'm loving the current incarnation they're showing on the Sci-Fi channel. - Billie Piper is hot although the new Doctor kinda reminds me of Richard Hammond from Top Gear.
By the way, I have the entire 2nd season straight from Britain from Bittorrent, just hours after it's aired.

I'm also slowing working on Bittorrenting all of the Tom Baker, Jon Pertwee, and lost Patrick Troughton episodes that were "telesnapped" - almost 200 gigabytes worth.

Dr. Who is just okay, always has been.

The Billie Piper picture above looks a bit Photoshopped, non? She's OK, but there's something about her that I just can't put my finger on. Maybe it's the 15 pounds...

Anyway, I've watched most of this season's episodes and while good, I don't like them quite as much as last season's. The writing isn't as interesting and I'm still waiting for the new Doctor to grow on me.

Old school fan. My problem now is that my kids want to play with my scarf (4th Doctor). Haven't seen any "new" ones since the 5th doctor and one preview of a Colin Baker (6th doc) show.

I like the new ones. I've not seen many of the 600+ episodes that played from the 60's to the 90's. I like the Eccelstone (sp) guy, but I'm wondering what the new guy is going to be like.

They play on Fridays at 8pm CST and again at 11 pm CST, but I can't remember the channel, probably Sci-fi. They are in between seasons right now so I don't think it's played the last 2 weeks or so.

Wow, I just did a search for Billie Piper and most of the pics of her are with less weight. I think the shorter hair blonde or brunette is much better too.

Yeah, I was trying to think of his name last night. I liked him a lot. He was such an ass, it was great. The new Dr. is ok but like I said, remind he of Richard Hammond a bit too much.

FOr the old stuff, I didn't like Colin Baker much, or Peter Davidson, but I've seen quite a few of them. I think my favourites were Tom Baker and Jon pertwee.
Currently downloading Tom Baker's series at 450k pe sec.

How does torrent work? Do you need to download software?

Yes. I use Utorrent. http://www.utorrent.com/

You find a link to a torrent file, download the torrent file into you torrent program, which then downloads what you want.

I just searched TVtorrent for Doctor Who. It has squat. Mininova.org has loads of stuff.
You'll see a list for "seeds" and "Leechers" The trick is to find a torrent with a high number of seeds, and a lower number of leechers, preferably. That's the seret to getting wicked speeds.
I downloaded the newest espisode, "Fear Her" in about 20 minutes last night - with about 1500 seeds.

www.bearshare.com also works very nice for downloading all sorts of television and such. When you are stuck in the boonies for a while with sucky foreign TV, it really helps.

Another secret for getting good speeds is to make sure ports 6880 thru 6889 are open and forwarded to the computer thats running the torrent client.

Here is a link to the newest Dr Who episode, "Fear Her"
http://www.mininova.org/tor/349609

Currently with 1585 seeds and 415 leechers. Now would be a VERY good time to get it.

Moses,

Yes, you need to d/l a torrent client such as utorrent (which is what I use/recommend). You then go to a site that hosts a small file called a torrent which the torrent client uses to d/l the file.

I like www.tvtorrent.info as it's a simple, clean design that has most popular tv shows. It only has the latest 2 years of Doctor Who indexed but that's fine for me. It's also proved useful for Top Gear (see also www.finalgear.com) and the UK Apprentice series (waaay better than the US version).
