Heck, the Constitution would specifically BLOCK implementation of Sharia, or any other theocratic government.

It would be nice if the .gov would tell extremeists to GTFO.

I have no issue with that. I'm with Frank Zappa:

Tax the churches. Tax the businesses owned by the churches. Deficit problem solved.

But if "political preaching" is the criteria, they better hit up most of the religions in this country. If you're going to apply a rule like that you have to do it across the board.

What Todd says.

As well, during the second-term elections, I think the IRS went after a Catholic church in CO, where the archbishop refused communion to any person who was pro choice and voting for Kerry.

They shut up real quick when their coffers became involved.

If this is from an old press conference (as I think it is) some weeks/months back don't get too excited by it. They're just saying if you don't want to abide by our rules & don't want to live here then don't. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Isn't it just saying the obvious? Maybe I've missed the point - feel free to point it out to me.

That's based on a law passed with the strong-arm help of Lyndon Johnson who was personally attacked by various church groups, before that there was virtually no restriction on what was said in churches, freedom of speach and all that.

I read recently that there is a bill before congress that would nullify all or part of the 501.3C language, seems the Bush dynasty wants it. I don't remember the bill number, or its' chances of passage.
