I have followed Russo's efforts over the years...the article Pat linked is an excellent summation of Russo's position on taxation.
I don't subscribe to all his goals, but I hope some form of honest debate on taxes results from his efforts.

I'm certainly no fan of taxes - especially since, as a business owner, I am subject to double taxation on all revenue. But for all those who say that the government has no law requiring us to pay an income tax, I have to ask: Isn't that covered under the 16th amendment and under CFR 26 ?

Okay... what I come away with after reading that is that the 16th did not create the power to tax, but only clarified that power. The power to tax lay in the constitution itself, Article I, Section 8, Clause 1.
And an exercise of that power is 26CFR.

Obviously the Constitution allowed taxes in this country. The 16th Amendment simply established a new tax on income. It is quite a ridiculous and unfair way to collect revenue as it tends to punish folks for being successful and/or hard work. It was sold as a temporary measure...but as we know, once someone (gvt included) get their hand in your pocket...you cannot ever get them to take it our of their own free will.
