State of our Union

Is anyone watching this special episode of 20/20 called "State of our Union"?

Its like an entire documentary on the behaviors in this OffTopic forum. I especially like the term "polarization entrepreneur". Its how I refer to Mul for the rest of my membership on this site.

I tend to agree, not that it is exclusively Republicans or any other group to blame, but I feel we are on the brink of something global, and there seems to be no real statesmen out there to defuse the situation.

Albert Einstein's prediction of how WW IV will be fought comes to mind, with clubs and spears.

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane and Lenny Bruce is not afraid.
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn - world serves its own needs, dummy serve your own needs.
Feed it off an aux speak, grunt, no, strength, Ladder start to clatter with fear fight down height.
Wire in a fire, representing seven games, a government for hire and a combat site.
Left of west and coming in a hurry with the furies breathing down your neck.
Team by team reporters baffled, trumped, tethered cropped.
Look at that low playing! Fine, then.
Uh oh, overflow, population, common food, but it'll do.
Save yourself, serve yourself.
World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed dummy with the rapture and the revered and the right, right.
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught in foreign towers.
Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn.
Locking in, uniforming, book burning, blood letting.
Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate.
Light a candle, light a votive. Step down, step down.
Watch your heel crush, crushed, uh-oh, this means no fear cavalier.
Renegade steer clear!
A tournament, tournament, a tournament of lies.
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives and I decline.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

The other night I dreamt of knives, continental drift divide.
Mountains sit in a line, Leonard Bernstein. Leonid Brezhnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs.
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom!
You symbiotic, patriotic, slam book neck, right? Right.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it. can't I have some time alone?
It's the end of the world as we know it can't I have some time alone? and I feel fine...fine...

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it. can't I have some time alone?
It's the end of the world as we know it can't I have some time alone? and I feel fine...fine...

It's a good issue that's beyond party politics.

Developing social morality created tension even before there was such a thing as organized religion imo.

here's a winner

Wayne:

The problem is that those 535 idiots in Washington and the ones in the White House have all the power and do not listen to the non-polarized majority. If this situation continues and worsens, the result will be such that I will be glad not to be around to see it. Our representative form of government is no longer as advertised; it represents very few.

I actually voted for this guy. Not because I thought he was the answer, but because I was certain the other two guys weren't.

+1

Wayne, this is easy to explain and has been going on a long time. Remember Nixon signed the welfare act not a democrat. 'Pubs have more "minorities" in their cabinents trying to show they're inclusive, and nominate "minorities" to the Supreme court (with hopefully 'pub leanings). The 'pubs want to show that they really are touchy-feely love everyone guys, and the 'crats want to show they have some fiscal responsibility and take crime seriously. Hence, one should vote in a backhanded way ie for the 'pubs if left leaning, and for the 'crats if right leaning.

Unfortunately, as long as the electoral college exists, there can only be two parties. I don't think the electorate is fed up enough to do anything about it as yet.

I met that guy. I actually asked him if a third party really had a chance. He said it has happened before....parties die off and new ones are born. Where are the Whigs and Tories today? Unfortunately, it's be admittedly harder now that we have 300 million in th country as opposed to 300,000.

It'd be tough to build a 3rd party. No so much so as to run independantly, but without a party backing you come off as non-viable or a nut.
