Local Silly-Con valley engineer, saw it on the news a few weeks back.

Bored engineers loaded with .com money come up with some pretty insane things in their spare time, this is just one example.

Matt,
Thanks...I'd have to agree that this is insane. Did they demo the thing on the news? Any idea where they drive such a thing or how fast? I can't imagine that a Bug could hold up with much speed, even if specially modded to handle it.

Yeah, he fired it up for a few short blasts in the news segment. You can probably find it on Google-Video or YouTube. It still has its original engine so he drives it as a daily-driver. I've never seen it on the highway, but he works in Sunnyvale someplace, a few blocks north of where I live.

Cool...thanks again. Wonder what CHP would do if he fired up a burst on 101 or 280. ;-) Me thinks it'd go airborn in a heartbeat with a nasty ending.

Traffic had better be back 100' before he lights it off. "Just" the turbine exhaust from the Abrams has scorched the paint off of cars too close behind it on public roads.

What a great idea for the tailgaters.

Melt the grill on the Escalade with the MILF on the cellphone.

Yeah, but remember when it was thought insane to put a motorcycle engine in a kit car. Now they're ubiquitous to kit cars.

I'm not thinking about the scooter, though. My mind's on what kit car one of those little 50lb engines could go in.

Maybe a James Dean replica car...

Oh putting a superbike motor in a kit car is tame- putting jet engines on a scooter that was only designed for 40 mph not to mention horrible drum brakes and steering geometry thats frightening at 30 mph is scary to say the least. Probably the worst part about it is the small diameter wheels that offer very little gyroscopic forces necessary for keeping things stable, speed rated tires??

But........ then again when all your friends are standing around theres only one way to show them who's got balls- RIDE IT!!

and push the go go button
