any 24 fans?
I'll admit I'm very late to the party. Over the past couple years I have rarely watched any network tv. My g/f has been a huge fan os 24 since it started (she has friends who've worked on the show), and kept bugging me to watch. So I tivo'd most of the episodes and we watched it timeshifted. Holy crap. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but as she termed it, the writers are fearless. They'll kill anybody off. I groaned a couple of times and some ridiculous technical/plot complications, but the show moves, and the concept is brilliant.
Before she flew off to Europe she gave me season 4 on DVD. I'm up to 1am on that one (a couple of 4 episode/night sessions). Then I suppose I'll do season 3. She says that it likely will be a bit dissapointing though as they have gotten better as they've gone along. I already notice much more melodrama in 4 than in 5. I'm betting season 6 has a China/NK plot. Then all we'll need is for CTU to hook up with Team America. |

Todd--
Better late than never. I've been a 24 fan since season #2 and now so is my 15-year old daughter (as are several of her friends). Clearly some of the stuff is non-believeable, but hey, its TV. And Jack is the man - a modern day Dirty Harry. Doing good and getting the bad guys. He's definitely in deep do-do at the end of the season -- January's a long time to wait for the next series.

I especially like the whole "shoot in the leg above the knee" motif.
This administration must have a love/hate relationship with the show. Season 4 played right into their wheelhouse, making people fear the Arabs living next door. And then season 5 has the Prez involved with very bad people doing very bad things to manipulate the world "in the best interest of the country." AND it promotes and legitimizes torture! Big win there ![]() ANybody know what his sidearm of choice is? I saw plenty of Glocks with the bad guys... |

and running with the Chuck Norris bit...pulled from a blog:
- The reason why terrorists attacked New York City was because Jack Bauer was in LA. - You can lead a horse to water. Jack Bauer can make him drink. - Jack Bauer let the dogs out. - If Jack Bauer was in a room with Hitler, Stalin, and Nina Meyers, and he had a gun with 2 bullets, he’d shoot Nina twice. - Every time you masturbate Jack Bauer kills a terrorist. Not beacuase you masurbated, but because that is how often he kills terrorists. - If you wake up in the morning, it’s because Jack Bauer spared your life. - Colin Farrell smokes a pack of cigarettes a day. Jack Bauer smokes a pack of terrorists anytime he feels like it. - Deaf people listen to Jack bauer. - Upon hearing that he was played by Kiefer Sutherland, Jack Bauer killed Sutherland. Jack Bauer gets played by no man. - Jack Bauer killed 93 people in just 4 days time. Wait, that is a real fact. - Jack Bauer has been to Mars. Thats why theres no life on Mars. - Jack Bauer cannot stick his elbow in his ear, but he can stick your elbow in your ear. - Jack Bauer once forgot where he put his keys. He then spent the next half-hour torturing himself until he gave up the location of the keys. - 1.6 billion Chinese are angry with Jack Bauer. Sounds like a fair fight. - Osama bin Laden’s recent proposal for truce is a direct result of him finding out that Jack Bauer is, in fact, still alive. - Jack Bauer was never addicted to heroin. Heroin was addicted to Jack Bauer. - If Jack Bauer was gay, his name would be Chuck Norris. - Jack Bauer’s favorite color is severe terror alert red. His second favorite color is violet, but just because it sounds like violent. - Jack Bauer doesn’t miss. If he didn’t hit you it’s because he was shooting at another terrorist twelve miles away. - Superman wears Jack Bauer pajamas. - If Jack and MacGyver were locked in a room together, Jack would make a bomb out of MacGyver and get out. - Jack Bauer got Hellen Keller to talk. - The quickest way to a man’s heart is through Jack Bauer’s gun. - Jack Bauer once told God he needed access, the event has since been referred to as “The Big Bang.” - Lets get one thing straight, the only reason you are conscious right now is because Jack Bauer does not feel like carrying you. - When you open a can of whoop-ass, Jack Bauer jumps out. - When life gave Jack Bauer lemons, he used them to kill terrorists. Jack Bauer frigging hates lemonade. - Did you know there was a national disaster last night while you were sleeping? Of course you didn’t, Jack Bauer was on duty. - When the boogie man goes to sleep, he checks his closet for Jack Bauer. - Jack Bauer played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun and won. |

I can't seem to get into it, is it just me or is the cinematography seem low rent? Is that by design?

Todd, I told you about 24 more than a year ago in a bar in SF. Did you listen? Nooooooo! Had to hear it from a girl...
I used Netflix to rent season 1 then 2 then 3. Lots of late nights. My wife's in love with Jack. ![]()

hey, I was tired from the ride up...but if you looked like my g/f I might have listened a little harder.
The g/f wants to *be* Jack, not do Jack. She says he's too short for her tastes. At least now I know why she was so stoked for me to take her to the firing range. |

I've heard so many people whose opinions I respect refer to 24 as "televised crack" that I've decided to give it a pass. The Porsche addiction is enough for me.

i'm addicted too. started the seasons chronologically, but only after they're out on dvd. simply cannot deal w/ the commercials, don't have tive, plus even w/ tivo, no matter how magical it can be, it simply cannot *make* the next episode... so i rent once they're out and also burn through a disc per evening. as unrealistic as some event may be, i still think the show is lots of fun. it takes you on one helluva adrenaline ride.
edit: maybe it's just the fact that i'm chasing that first-hit high, or that the concept was so new that everything was surprising, but i liked the first season the best. others have more of everything, and they are not any less fun, that's for sure... either way, i couldn't pick a favorite. they're all very fun.

A friend of mine was all like "Dude I'm going to get you some 24 seasons on DVD for Christmas!" and I was all like "Dude no way!" and he was totally like "WAY!" and I was all like "NO WAY, Imeanitdamnit!!!"
It really is addictive. Len, I think the style they use is a highly-developed "COPS" format to give it a more raw, gritty feel. Just sucks you in more...stay away, don't watch it! Save yourself!

Moses, it is perfectly acceptable to think of Jack Bauer during relations - your wife is doing the same.
