"I'm not fat, I'm big boned!"

http://www.cnn.com/2006/HEALTH/07/05/obese.kids.ap/index.html

Political correctness gone WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY too far.

If a kid is a fat f*ck because they spend all day sitting around on their plump ass playing video games and eating junk food, I don't have much problem with telling 'em. Negative reinforcement, no matter how unpleasant, is still a potential motivator.

As if the kids do not realize it already. These "experts" need to find another profession IMHO and the kids need to get outside more often and play sports etc...

They probably wanted to avoid this reaction?

"Obese" is a much more accurate term and less prejudicial.

Obese "sounds mean. It doesn't sound good," said Trisha Leu, 17, who thinks the proposed change is a bad idea.

The Wheeling, Illinois, teen has lost 60 pounds since March as part of an adolescent obesity surgery study at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

"When you're young, you don't understand what obese means," Leu said. "I still don't understand it."

---

Time for testing requirements before breeding. Every kid over 13 goes on mandatory birthcontrol implants. They can be removed after passing a test.

No matter, they're just going to skew the scale so less kids are classified as "obese." The current data was based on kids in the 60's and 70's. Today's kids are...uh....more weighty so we have to change the standards.

Boot camp for the lot of them. Except for the sensitive types. They can become artists and writers. If they're no good for that, slave labor. We'll beat China at their own game yet...

Get the junk food machines out of the schools!!!
We didn't have them when I went to school 25-30 years ago. We ate at the school cafeteria or, in my case, ate what my Mom pakced in our lunchbox, Emergency , by the way.

As many of you know, I work for a large vending company but I still firmly believe that there should be no vending machines in the schools. When my kids get to that age, I will do my best to see that they are eating right. Yes, that will be a challenge but isn't that what parents are supposed to do?

Too much PC in the world today. You are a fata$$!!!! Put the Twinkie and XBox down and go do something. Jeez.

Your title was a great Dennis Leary joke.
Dinasours are big boned, your big a$$ed.
Our local school district has removed all the junk from the vending machines. The "soda" machine only has water and Juice.
When I was in school you had better not get cought walking down the hall with a soda. We were allowed to smoke though. The times they are-a-changing

Even more accurate would be morbidly obese. Sounds mean to her though, how about this, "Attention fat ass, step away from the donut."

Not letting me go outside was how I got punished when I was a kid, but I have never been a fat fuck, so perhaps I can't empathize with how this "makes her feel" We are raising a generation of morbidly obese children, I had a 14 year old with adult onset diabetes and hypertension, how long until her fat ass is on disability?

You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. If a kid is fat call him/her fat or obese, perhaps they will get the message and try to eat less shlt. Go back to cafeterias that serve one main course and side dishes that are nutritious. If the kids don't like it they will not eat it, case closed. No kid ever starved to death except when food was intentionally denied to the child. it's part of growing up, developing a taste for foods you do not necessarily like. Not everything you do in life is done because we like it. Parents need to get with the program. Stop taking the easy way out and giving in to the kids. These kids are not going to live past 50 and most kids today are FAT.

I remember being called skinny when I was in school but I never went out and got a gun to shoot the kids who were bugging me. I figured I better get with the program and do what I had to do to correct the problem. You only have to kick one bully's a$$ and the name calling stops.

I think kids should wear uniforms as well and stop this ridiculous wardrobe contest that takes place every day a kid goes out the door. I'm all for showing a little skin when your 18 or so but not at 11 or 12. No 200lbs 12 year olds in tube tops. Boys need to wear pants at the belt line, shirts tucked in and tell the little shlts how to tie ******* shoes.

Sorry, that will never happen, it is illegal to smoke in too many places. In Cali, you can't smoke in a bar for Christ's sake.

I totally blame the parents for enabling their children's gluttonous behavior.

I took my kids to the pool a couple of weeks ago. I was shocked at all the fat kids. During the 10min break all the kids went straight to the concession stand and loaded up. My kids asked if they could get a snack and I told them no. We came to swim and not to eat. One of my daughter's rotund friends came up and offered to buy her a treat and I had to say no. She was upset but over it in about 2 minutes.

When did saying "no" to our children become so hard for so many parents?

Mandate physical training for every kid according to their ability.

Re-establish the draft for young adults.

Okay, this is off the subject but I just had to respond: I had an "Emergency" lunchbox too.
Have to agree, there is too much crap food in the schools and crap food at home. Parents too easily stock the cupboards with what kids want to eat, not what they should be eating.
