"We'd love to have a cease-fire..." Not according to the AP...
"We'd love to have a cease-fire," White House spokesman Tony Snow said. "But Hezbollah has to be part of it. And at this point, there's no indication that Hezbollah intends to lay down arms."
The AP headline covering this statement: "U.S. Opposed to Cease-Fire With Hezbollah." But the non-liberal MSM would treat any administration that way... [so it's OK]. JP

John Bolton, that charming sack of schit, as of yesterday said, "how do you have a cease-fire w/ a terrorist organisation?" I heard it w/ my own ears, unless you are accusing the commie MSM of faking his voice or something.

Face the facts; the Bush administration has had no comprehensive ME peace plan since the day they slithered into office and the proof is definitely in the pudding, (and the body parts). EVERY admin. proceeding them, Dem or Rep., has made a serious effort to pour water on the fire over there. But not these losers, they were busy w/ other things.

Yes, leadership would be very useful.
Admittedly, I have not followed these development very closely but I have heard musings about American forces helping to secure Lebonese borders. I'd guess they don't mean to stand between Israeli forces and Lebanon. I would support American forces to ensure a fair fight. Like when your friends follow you and the dickhead out of the bar and into the alley, to make sure dickhead's friends stay out of it. I would honestly (and here some of you are going to call me a mudslinger bit I am serious about this for international relations purposes) suggest we keep Dubya's mug off the TV screen. If we need to make announcements, we have spokesmen who present a more dignified and confident and statesman-like personna. I honestly think the world laughs at him.

Iran is the ultimate problem. They may even dump Hezbollah if their connection risks getting bombed. Even the Saudi's don't want Iran to become more powerful.
Anti Bush guys would get more traction commenting on the far left destruction of Dem Sen Joe Liberman. fwiw.. I would think the ultimate ME plan would be to ensure a countries voters be in control of their destiny and not some supreme leader and his gangsters. Hopefully Bush's new job will be enabling democracy in Lebanon. He'll bs about UN support etc even thou it's only politic posturing. The US will have the burden as it always does.

Unconditional surrender is the only answer to an end of war or it's only a time out.

More astute. Reassuring to see the lessons of WWII were not lost on everyone. For the liberals on this board, WWII was a conflict between "the Allies" (or "war mongering oil hungry imperialists" in Democrat-speak) and "the Axis" (or the "peace loving German / Japanese bravely resisting imperialist interference in their internal affairs") Check it out--it was in all the 'papers. ![]()
