Meyers Manx-ish Speedster dune buggy
FYI:
I stumbled across a project car in Dexter Michigan today (no pictures) which was very interesting. I forget the name of the 1967 dune bugggy, the seller said they made this model only one year before Manx bought them out. It's called a Speedster, but has strong 1970 Vette overtones (in a good way). The whole car is only about nine feet long, and (EDIT) is on a VW pan (EDIT: Shortened), and uses a VW engine. $1,000, seller said similar cars go for $3,000. Lots of parts off the car, but they are there on the side ready to install (including engine). If you are interested PM me, and I'll get pictures and phone numbers. Did I say it's really cool looking? Cheers.

Kach, where the heck do you live? I grew up in Ann Arbor. Father still lives there.
Spent plenty of time in Dexter in my youth.

Was it like the mini vette from Death Race 2000?

1. Not a Manx SR , but that's a cool one too.
2. Edit: NOT a Steel tube frame, has four wheels on it - rolls. 3. I work downtown A2, live near the Big House. 4. Death Race 2000 is my favorite car movie of all time. 5. Getting in and out of the "Speedster" and fitting into the "Speedster" is an art, no doors, high sill almost 30 inches high and no leg room to speak of. The guy has seats (no padding), and interior panels..................will get picture soon.

Hey, I found this interesting page on the Manx SR (yes, I'd like to have one) owners and interest web site, on restoring a 1970 Manx SR to better than new. http://www.manxsr.com/mysr_page.htm
The Manx SR interest web site is, http://www.manxsr.com . Anotehr interesting site is http://www.meyersmanx.com/forums/index.php , on which I discovered that Bruce Meyers is still living, and had his 80th birthday last spring. Cool. |

I have pictures, talked to Joe the seller at info@conspiracycycleworks.com 1(734) 426-7000, 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
I looked, it is on a VW pan, also someone cut the rear fiberglass deck so that dual card stacked airfilters could protrude up and out. A Porsche 917 style tail or Vette-ish spoiler would look nice back there. The engine would still be all exposed in any case. Joe said that Dale Earnhardt once put a Corvair engine in one and raced it, that car recently sold for $28,000. I wrote down the name, but forgot it in my car, think Joe said it was made by a company named "Free Spirit" in 1967. You can e-mail him for more information, I've found nothing in the Internet myself to verify this so I may have the name wrong again - sorry.

Too big to fail

Interesting clutch adjustent setup.
Offer him $500, use it to tow the hovercraft; paint it to match.

That looks a lot like a Dean Jeffries Kyote knock off. There is a web site or two for Kyote pics.
