Paul Tracy screws the pooch again. . .

Anyone else see yesterday's Champ Car race? Paul Tracy (aka "Crash") slides out on the last corner of the last lap taking himself and points leader Sebastian Bourdaix out of the race (and off the podium - they had been battling for 2nd/3rd). Win goes to AJ Allmindinger. Whoo hoo!!!

Anyone else think Tracy's days are numbered? He's always been kind of a brash arrogant ass, but I quickly see him becoming villified. Even Canadian sports reporting was blaming the crash (as well as the one two weeks ago, obviously) on him - and he's Canadian. . .

I've enjoyed watching the shootouts between him and Bourdaix but I seriously think 'ol Paul might be putting his career in a bit of jeopardy lately with all the enemies he's making. . .

Paul's not going anywhere. With ChampCar being on life support, they need him badly. Maybe a small fine, though?

I'll bet he is one of those guys that has never had his ass whooped. Those types of guys that get in the face of some 130 lb foreigner. Well, first of,f take of your helmets if you are so billy bas ass. Tracy would have fit right in with the nascar boys. All bluff and bravado.

I'd have pulled his ticket after his previous fiasco...

Someone needs to tell Tracy to stop using hydrogen peroxide on his head. It's killing too many brain cells. Methinks he's trying to get a fat NASCAR contract. He wants the boys to know he can rub with the best.

I thought it was a great move and I fully expected it. I just can't figure out why Bourdiase thought Tracy would do anything else.

Let's see,
The plusses: Tracy hates Bourdiase and would love an opportunity to kick his ass and Tracy's teammate is trying to close the points gap.

The minuses: Tracy gets a fine (which his team owner or teammate will pay along with a steak dinner for Tracy) and
Tracy losses more points and maybe has to sit out a race.

Seems an easy decision. Is it right or ethical? No. Was it the logical decision? Yes.

Even with that logic, I still think he's a first class A Hole........

I wish the bunch of them would gather 'round Paul after hours and let him know that EVERYONE is tired of his antics.

I like to watch close competitive racing regardless of the series. Having said that smashing, crashing and blatant moving people out of the way is not racing in my opinion. I'm tired of hearing "rubbing is racing". If your car is good enough and you are a talented driver why do this kind of crap? Lots of money wasted, lots of team members labor wasted and not the results the sponsors want.

I don't deny Tracy is an Ahole, I'm just saying I'm not surprised.

Last week's crash was really sh**y, but I wouldn't put this week's crash past Tracy, Schumacher, Prost, or Senna.

He said in the paper " what the hell are they (champcar) going to do, fine me, take me out of next week's race. Its in Canada and I'm Canadian, I dont think so " He has been and will always a pompious a**. I hope they DO take him out of the next race, show some *alls, and then get on with it. I dont know how his sponsors can continue to pay his bills.

Tracy on tsn.ca:

"I'm going to be in the mix in every race that comes up," Tracy said Monday. "If (Bourdais) wants to tango with me he'd better wear some steel-toed construction boots from Mark's Work Warehouse or he's going to have sore toes."

"Too bad he wouldn't take his helmet off, then we really would have settled things," Tracy said in Sunday's post-race interview. "But French guys always keep their helmets on."

The guy is quotable

Personally, I've never been a fan of the guy. He's fast when he's not crashing and that's been the story with him since he was a rookie. He's never changed in that regard. He kind of reminds me of Robbie Gordon.

He's got a short fuse too and I think he frequently lets his emotions get the better of him.

And that's precisely why he'll never be a winner or a champion. Say what you will about the French - this is the first time I've ever seen Bourdaix lose his temper or show emotion on the grid (frankly, I think it was perfectly justifiable). Tracy is an irresponsible d*ck. What's everyone going to say when he pulls another stunt like this and someone gets injured or killed?

Numbered? His days are over. He was the number 1 driver on the team, having a horrible season. Then they put Almindinger in the other car and he wins three races straight, with a fourth at this race. Almindinger consistently out qualifies Tracy. Now Tracy is being forced to learn left foot braking. You can’t compete at that level without left foot braking, and he’s just learning it? You could see him miss braking points consistently throughout this race.

I'm not sure if I'm just too lazy to try to keep up racers personalities or if I just don't care all that much. A few years back I though Tracy was cool (because he was winning) but now he is acting like a dork... maybe he has personal problems but it is not rocket science if you keep crashing you need to back down a few notches. Plus how many teams/sponsors are going to back you if you can't finish a race?

I'm a Almindinger fan anyway.

How much of cloud #9 must A.J. be on right now? He's what? 26? With 4 Champ Car victories in his rookie year, a gorgeous blonde, big-hootered fiance that he's probably nailing at least twice a day, tons of money, sponsorship deals, etc. He's a serious contender if he doesn't let the ego get to him and keeps just doing the job he's being paid to do.

It's hard to not like the guy - he's so unassuming as-is. I just hope it stays that way.

Tracy and Phillipe on the other hand. . . They both deserve to get a few smacks in the head with a pillowcase full of brass doorknobs. . .

A.J. Allmendinger isn't a rookie; this is his third season. He was fired for being a pain in the ass and a choke artist. Paul Tracy won a championship in 2003 when all the major teams left, Penske, Gannassi, Team Green etc. Paul Tracy also signed a 7 year contract with Forsythe last year so he will be around for awhile. Back when Tracy raced for Team Kool Green they made him see a sports psychiatrist to handle a lot of different issues. He was penalized for punching his boss, Kim or Barry Green, and ran into his teamate Dario Franchitti on one of the last laps of a race a few years ago, ending an almost certain 1-2 finish. Many drivers are still right foot breakers, they don't stall the car in spins as often but many of the younger drivers, mostly former karters, are left foot breakers.

Great memory, Trevor. I had forgotten about Tracy punching Kim Green. '99 or '98?
