That is what I was thinking. No way in hell I marry into a family that:

A-Thinks so little of me they want to have me jump through a hoop before I join the family.

B-Thinks so little of their daughter's judgement that they think A is a good idea

If I had someone pull that crap on me, when they got done clapping and patting me on the back, the first words out of my mouth would be, "Weddings off, you just screwed your daughter out of a good husband, buh bye."

Yes, yes....and yes.

I had a coworker at an old job whose wife was so jealous that she had timed his route home from work, and would start going looking for him if he was more than 5 minutes late. He wasn't allowed to go to the store alone, and he was strictly forbidden from happy hours and other social gatherings.

Of course, this guy had figured out how to get around his wife's controls, but they persisted nonetheless.

Much later I learned that two weeks before his wedding (15 years prior to when I worked with him), he had got it on with his wife's little sister.

From that point on, I decided him and his wife deserved each other. Why they chose to get married anyway was their own faults...
