Enzo crash in Utah
|
Dietrich strikes again?
|
There were what? 400 of these things made?
How many of them have been totalled so far? This model must have one of the highest percentages of total losses... |
Car and Driver did a story about the Enzo, for which they borrowed an Enzo from an owner out of Utah. The guy seemed like a nice guy and generous. There is a picture of him in the C&D article.
I hope this wasn't his car. Then again it sucks for any body else...the owner. |

not as many as Carreras GTs |

I wish him a speedy recovery. :(
|
Howard, you better get moving if you are going to get a hose before they clean up the mess.
|
Think that will make his insurance go up?
|
looking here, it seems like more than five Enzo's have been totaled as this one and Eriksson's are not shown.

Their mothers should take these boys out and spank them for driving so recklessly.
And take their cars away from them and give them to someone who can properly appreciate them, me. |

I bet some of the ricer kids and boys who wish they owned 911's would say the same about us "mis-using" our 911's at the track. How often do we see good looking well prepped 911's get banged up at the track? For shame! Some idiot took Black Beauty I AND (!) Black Beauty II to the track and had accidents in both of them! ( ;) )

From the news item:
"For the final day, drivers raced down a closed section of highway to see how fast their cars could really go." Guess he now has an idea how fast it will stop too. |
I was at least glad to see this was not done on an open road...

The key word in this post is track. |
Jim,
The Enzo was on a closed road course. From the news article" "For the final day, drivers raced down a closed section of highway to see how fast their cars could really go. That's when one of them crashed. " |

But would you like a ride in mine when I get it?:) |

I hate to see any nice car wrecked on a track but prefer it to happen there than on the street. |
Ferrari have to love this. First they produce "just less than the demand" to ensure all cars are sold at the highest price they can get. And then they have all these people crashing them to raise the price further.:(
|
For a before pic and article written by the owner, bragging of doing 215 on a highway, see your September Issue of ROAD & TRACK...page 91.
|
Are you kidding me?!! I just read that little article a couple of days ago and remember thinking that he was crazy to go as fast as he had implied. What a beautiful car it was. What a shame. http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/shake.gif

Wierd...
saw this guy rollin into Cal speedway in April...thought he was going into the paddock inside, but rolled out to where the Karts and ricers drift in the outside parking lot. Even at 6:30 a.m. he had ricers buzzing all around him on 10 eastbound. Think his Lic plate was MM ENZO. |

Lets just say that they were a good investment. ;)
|
I guess this is the race he was involved in?

That is the Open Road Challenge which has been going on for years, and it's not held in Utah. As the banner at the start line indicates, it is in Nevada.
|
Nevada Utah whats the difference? ;)
So it was a similar setup like that one a blst down a deserted public road? Thats pretty cool!! I go to the Bay Bottom Crawl in the Keys and its on an abandoned deserted road. The huge difference is the fact that we cannot get much over 100MPH and the other being if you make a mistake you are going swimming. That last one really sticks in the back of your mind and seperates the men from the loonies. :D I would imagine that Enzo was really cooking. Like that 350 in the video you never know what might happen. I am also amazed at how intact the drivers compartment is. As bad as it looks it really held together. |
1. Glad to hear that the driver survived.
2. As sad as it is to see such a beautiful and rare car wrecked, I'd rather have that happen to a car that was being run at 8-10/10ths on a closed course, than sit in a museum like some piece of furniture. 3. GTO's go for about $10 million, give or take. Out of curiosity/ignorance, how many of the original 36 are still around? |
There I was, believing the reason you Americans did not get to play with several year models of the Porsche turbo was because of emission rules... :D

Ouch ... now that's a bad day in the GTO :(
|
In the tech forum the actual race is confirmed as in Utah.
If that's a real GTO, one hope driver = owner, or does something really good for the owner if you know what I mean. (Has IYKWIM been invented yet?) |
