Ok, so the concensus (??) as I read it with my biassed eyes is:
Hot tubs are a good thing for sore muscles and stuff, people who have one tend to use them, with exceptions, around once per week. Buy a good one, cheap ones aren't going to do the trick They are good winter and summer given you adjust the water temperature as needed No clothing is best (had this confirmed by some folks around here....their thoughts are that a) it is unnecessary give you are good friends and b) the detergent used to wash the suits causes problems with the water) Install it well, watch for the critters who like to eat Apparently the urban legend that extracurricular activity does not work in the hot tub has no basis in California.... I said it on the other thread on hot tubs and I'll say it again here..."Vaseline Petroleum Jelly".

I have only ever considered hot tubs to be the domain of swingers.

Hot tubs are amazing...BEST purchase you'll ever make!! My father has had one for 9 years and has used it at least 3 times a week for those 9 years. It is MUCH better in the winter. Your body can be nice and hot but it is more managable because the air isn't hot and humid. (as long as you don't mind frozen hair). It is more relaxing in the winter because you don't get overheated. I highly suggest the purchase of a hot tub. I will eventually have one myself.

My brother has one, uses it 3-4 times a week, with his only caveat being that the hot tub is more labor intensive than his pool is because the chemicals don't last as long in the hot water.

We drain/refill ours a couple times a year and just use bromine in a floating dispenser. About once a month my wife throws some "shock" in it. The spa supply places will try to get you to add a bunch of other chemicals also, however ours has been pretty maintanance free for the last ten years.

I have never owned a hot tub. But I recall a fellow Pelican named Seeeu911 appears to be the resident expert on their appropriate uses...note this example taken from the "Carolina Cheerleaders Sex In A Bathroom Stall" thread...
