Tire recom: Honda Civic
Looking to replace the OE Firestones on our '03 Civic. Although I think they've worn well for the 60K+ miles on the car, I find them to be very noisy and not the best in the snow--so I'm looking for alternatives.
On tirerack I'm leaning between the Pirelli P400s and the Yokohama Avid T4. A dark horse would be the Kumho Youring A/S 795. The Pirellis get excellent feedback on the site (as do the Yokes), but the last set of Avid T4s I had (on another car) produced a lot of road noise (but I felt they performed well in snow). Any input/suggestions on any of these selections? I'm trying to keep the price point as low as possible. Thanks, Paul |

No FHE on any of the tires you mention, above. But, in general, I've found and heard that Yokes seem to wear a little quicker than the other manufacturers out there. Of course, those data points are mainly in the realm of high performance summer tires, so perhaps the Yokes are quicker wearing, but stickier. I've had a couple sets of Kumhos (also high performance tires) that seemed to do OK in the snow, and wore acceptably.

Thanks Noah. Actually, wear is not a priority since we'll be selling the car most likely in the next year or so. My primary concern is grip in the winter and noise--the Flintstones on there now are incredibly noisy.

Great luck with Bridgestons from Costco, 930's I think. Ran 2-3 sets for 100k+ on the old Civic, good cheap tires.
