Christmas is Early -- "New" Beretta on the Way!

I just couldn't pass this up on Gun Broker:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=54280452

I don't see Beretta 90s for sale often.

Beretta has sort of reintroduced the "90" model designation with the new "90-Two" -- which is a reworked "92." I handled one of those the other day at the gun store; the grip felt surprisingly "slippery." The plastic on the grip has a lot of texture, but still felt slick. The basic 92 feels a lot more stable -- especially those I've handled with rubber grips.

Purdy! What's the story with those? Anyone know which Beretta James Bond had to turn in for the PPK?

Logically it would have been a 1934, with Fleming's minimal understanding of handguns he probably had in mind the 950.

I have a Beretta 92FS that I loved until I get my first Sig. Now, I shoot the Sig instead of the Beretta!

Art,

What model Sig did you buy?

I'm considering picking up a P220 in .45 ACP to go along with my BCP 1911 in the same caliber.

I bought a Sig P239 in 9mm for target shooting. It's a great little pistol and is well-balanced, accurate and fun to shoot!

My understanding is that in the Bond books, Bond was originally supposed to be using a 22 short Beretta -- I guess it would have been a 950.

I do believe it's a Beretta 90 that Bond turns in for the Walther .380 in one of the early movies. I've only caught a glimpse of it in the film; next time that movie (I don't even recall which one it is -- all the Bond movies sort of "blur" into sameness in my mind) is on, I should try to tape it to get a good look at the gun.

The use of a Walther LP53 airpistol on the poster for one film tells us all we need to know about Bond and handguns

Wikipedia says the early novels identified his gun as a Beretta 418; who knows what they showed in Dr. No. Some dialog and pics here...

Boy, I don't know, but I don't think you'll be seeing many guns in your near future. Let's see - sway bars or P220? Torsion bars or P220? You're on a slippery slope now; even guns will take a back seat...
