Do you live in the wrong part of the world. The west and southwest are home to spiders, scorps and snakes. They were here long before us. We are the interlopers.

"I dont like spiders and snakes, and that aint what it takes to love me,
like I wanna be loved by you"

Then there are 'Bark Scorps' which live mostly in Mexico but also in the SW desert. They are very small and almost clear but a little whitish. Found much of the time in chunks of cactus skeleton laying around and fire wood, etc. One nasty SOB and haved been lethal to kids. I think there may be a neruo-toxin component but also very painful.

Man the rattlers here must be dumb or something. I've come across three in the last year while jogging and none of them gave a warning shake. I'm pretty fat and slow so luckily I spotted them before placing a foot in a bad spot.
