Old Man and the Sea.


For a good laugh read any of Terry Pratchett's books. They are a witty, and funny commentary on modern times.

Orwell's "1984". I'll bet the government schools don't assign that one these days. The surveillance camera parts would make them nervous...

While I agree with you on R&J, I've been under the impression that Holden is committed at the end of CitR, not dead.

Funny how we were all exposed to the same works. Loved Gatsby and (still love to read) Catch 22 for the enjoyment. Never made it through Jane Eyre. Not even the Cliff Notes.

"A Separate Peace" struck me then as now with a flawed main character haunted by the past.
