Id keep the Colt slide because I like to have the horsey on the side. If you dont like '80 series parts, throw them out. Not a big deal. The MKIV round top Colt slide is a much better looking slide than the springfield and you still have the option of having it milled for any site you want later on.

the springfield frame is not mil. spec. Its contoured differently than a mil spec 1911, but it has plenty of material for checkering, serrations, etc.
