That'd be great if that's what the (r) were actually for.
Think of Iraq - giving taxpayer dollars to a non-deserving, politically-connected bunch of political cronies like Haliburton and their ilk via no-bid contracts.
It's the biggest social welfare program in history.
If the Republicans got serious about stopping illegal immigration, balancing the budget, stopping corporate and personal welfare handouts to leechers, improving education and strengthening the country rather than weakening it - I'd damn well support them.
Of course they'd have to publicly denounce the Religious Wrong too.
On the other side I find it nauseating to have to side with those that encourage government dependence, promote welfare programs, similarly do nothing to curb illegal immigration (although the reasons are different), etc.
It's just an example of how the two-party system screws America out of any meaningful leadership. It's like having your executioner ask "do you want the bullet in the heart or the head?" Great choices. . .
