Mother wants her son to become President someday - God help us.
One of the kids on my son's water polo team is a spoiled brat. He's a 16 y/o junior in HS. Priviledged, irresponsible and totally spoiled. His mom allows him to call her by her first name. At the tournament this past weekend, he was pushing my buttons by the way he was talking to his mom that I wanted to smack him. If my kid ever talked to me that way, it'd be smackdown time.
He and two other kids trashed their hotel room and when his mom told them to clean it up, he yelled at her and slammed the door in her face. She in turn raised her voice and said that he could never become President if he kept up that behavior. I though she was joking but she was really serious. I've never met the kid's dad so I don't know how the kid responds to him. I couldn't understand how the mom could've allowed the kid to become so spoiled. That is until I saw what was on her car; a faded Kerry/Edwards sticker. It's all crystal clear now.

My future kids will behave even if I have to get medieval on their ass'. I can't stand watching the way some kids treat their parents - it's just sick.

Ummm...I believe the Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker part just as quickly as I believe the parents with the Bush/Cheney bumper stickers beat the living hell out of their kids.

You don't have to spank your kid in order to have them respect others, (including you). Mind you, there were times when I was tempted, but overall, it seemed the weight of Mom and Dad's displeasure was enough to make them modify their behaviors.
