Talking AirAmerica goes bankrupt.

To file soon and apparently just laid off workers with no severance!!! My goodness, I though evil Republicans did those things.

What a joke.

Yeah, but they were a success, because they created a network where none had been. Nevermind the fact that they couldn't pay their bills and that they had no listeners... they created something, man. That's deep. They paved the way for future progressive programming, which again, will be doomed to failure.

I guess this shows us who listens to blowhards on the radio and who is home reading books thinking about the future of the nation

In other news, Britney Spears has sold more albums that Strauss, Beethoven and Mozart combined.

The very form of matter the media takes makes it more or less valid?

Not "the form," I just never liked talk radio, where every problem has a solution in 3 minutes, or less.

True "information" on talk radio is a scarce commodity. Opinion and conjecture on the other hand.......

In the Winter 2006 Arbitron ratings, Air America registered a lowly 1.0 share in Los Angeles, an even smaller share in Chicago, and a 0.8 share in New York; the latter figure represented a loss of nearly half the station's listenership since the previous ratings period. Consequently, Air America is slated to lose its New York flagship station WLIB on August 31, 2006.

How did this notion that the Democrats are all cerebral and erudite get started? The Democratic base is poor and uneducated. It consists of welfare recipients, minimum wage workers, hollywood actors (99% of the SAG are waiters and cab drivers with 1% rich and stupid), the MSM and that tiny demographic - university professors.

Is there even one Republican on welfare? Are there any Republicans out there with at least a high school diploma?

Newsflash! There are a lot of Republicans who know every letter of the alphabet. Air America failed not because it was edgy or too sophisticated. It failed because it was redundant.

Maybe since Fred Rogers died they can get his time slot, or have Al Franken share a spot with Big Bird.

Hmmmm....they vote Repub? When did they switch over? Those folks were always the core of the Democratic base up there. As for Air America, if their potential core audience was actually interested, they could have kinda fudged the Artbitrons by just leaving the radio on while they did whatever they do during that time of the day. Kindathe way every L. Ron Hubbard books isa best seller because every Scientologist goes out and buys at least 10 copies whenver one is re-released. If Franken and company can only get a .8 sahre in the Big Apple, the heartland of American Progressive Thought, then the truth of the matter is they were unlistenable regardless of their political bent.....lol
