Regarding my recent LRC article about Rush Limbaugh and his "highway deaths" argument to justify the war in Iraq, I received this from a civil engineer:

I know, I know, it was so much fantasy, wasn't it? Of course, Limbaugh's defense when backed into a corner, which he would be when confronted with these facts, is to proclaim, "shucks, folks, I'm just an entertainer", though I've not heard him make that plea for a number of years.

Perhaps he's forgotten.

Funny, but the same folks that idolize Limbaugh revile Michael Moore, and vise versa. Only the true believers on either side even listen to these two. I'm dissapointed that anyone would even put the effort into debunking either's statements. It gives them an air of legitimacy that neither deserve.

All I know is that until Rush Limbaugh came along ALL we heard on the airwaves of this country were "news shows" protecting the established rulers...for 40 years, those ruling in D.C. were democrats...controlling both the senate and the house, and more often than not, the White House as well. There was a monopoly on the airwaves, and a monopoly inside the beltway. At least talk radio, in which Rush Limbaugh was a pioneer, leveled the playing field a wee bit.

I personally don't care for Limbaugh, but the posts and statistical relationships used against him totally baffles me. Does anyone find this even as valid as Limbaugh's argument? Pat, how can you quote such idiots?
