Say It Ain't So..Willie !
Willie Nelson Cited for Possession of Marijuana
Monday, September 18th Willie Nelson and some of the others on his bus have been cited for misdemeanor drug possession. Louisiana state troopers say they smelled a strong odor of marijuana from a bus pulled over in a traffic stop. A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up a pound and a half of marijuana and two-tenths of a pound of mushrooms. Nelson was cited for possession of mushrooms and possession of marijuana. The same citations were also issued for his sister, Bobbie Nelson, and for Tony Sizemore, Gates Moore and David Anderson. All five have been released. |

Another big-mouthed C&W singer blabbed about the bus on the Colbert Report a few days ago. Toby Keith I think.

Had it been someone my age...those volumes would have automatically prompted the words "with intent to distribute" to appear on the citation.
I could kiss the next 20 years of my life goodbye.

Toby Keith song - "I'll Never Smoke Weed with Willie Again"
I always heard that his herb was top shelf I just couldn't wait to find out for myself Don't knock it till you tried it, well I tried it my friend I'll never smoke weed with Willie again I learned a hard lesson in a small Texas town He fired up a fat boy and he passed him around The last words I spoke before they tucked me in I'll never smoke weed with Willie again I'll never smoke weed with Willie again My party's all over before it began You can pour me some old whiskey river my friend But I'll never smoke weed with Willie again I hopped on his old bus, the Honeysuckle Rose The party was Vegas, it was after the show Alone in the front lounge, just me and him With one parting puff grime creeper set in I'll never smoke weed with Willie again My party's all over before it began You can pour me some old whiskey river my friend But I'll never smoke weed with Willie again Now we're passing the guitar, telling good jokes I know ones a coming cause I'm smelling smoke No I do not partake, I just let it pass by With a smile on my face and a great contact high I'll never smoke weed with Willie again My party's all over before it began You can pour me some old whiskey river my friend But I'll never smoke weed with Willie again In the fetal position with drool on my chin I messed up and smoked weed with Willie again

Hey Chuck, I wonder if this was for the "100 days of summer heat" post-party? Sounds like I-10 was busy for a little while
Gotta watch your step between Lafayette & the "little capital"...so much so I've resorted to driving hiway190 between Opelousas and BTR...clear sailing after Pointe Barre.

1.5 lbs for a musician is clearly personal use. No intent to distribute...if anything he was probably looking for another lb for a rainy day.

Willie? Drugs? Naw...couldn't be! Probably some conspiracy happened here...the drugs were planted by crooked BATF agents or somethin'.

I was close friends w/ Vernon White, who was Willie's road manager for many years until he died in '02. (or '01?) He, (VW), was one of the finest people I have ever known, he died of natural causes quite suddenly @ age 72, but everyone thought that he was in his 50s. He was part of what I call the hippest group of guys alive, all senior citizens now, but the clique generally consists of Willie, Chris Christopherson, J.D. Souther, Bob Neuwirth, sometimes Dylan, etc...
Anywhooo....., Vernon was one of the best story tellers ever and absolutely side-splitting hilarious as only Texas people can be. My personal favorite story was of another time the bus got pulled over somewhere and the troopers brought drug-sniffing dogs on board. The dogs quickly got really stoned and disoriented, one of them was indicating the shift lever of the bus as being the stash.... ![]() God, I miss that guy. |
