F1 china.......SPOILER!!!!

what a great race, rain always throws a wrench into strategies, and ferrari came out on top, schuey now being tied with alonso in points and ferrari 1 point behind renault means the next 2 races are going to be a true battle at the F1 level.

personally i hope schuey pulls it off as it'd be a nice end to a great career and especially after last years dismal season.

schuey has got to win at suzuka because i think rubino is due to win his home race in the last race of the season, at least i hope so for him

I fell asleep watching the race last night. Every time I saw a car take a corner outside of the defined path (that could easily be seen on the track with the rain), I thought it was going to lose traction.

The Renault Team blew it. FA kept fighting but he ran out of time. Schumi won it fair & square. It will certainly keep us all watching the next 2 races.

Sato couldn't make it through the walmart parking lot in a mini van without hitting something. I could almost drive an F-1 car better than him and I suck as a race car driver! (but I wouldn't fit in the car, too fat).
The only reason he's still got a ride is because he is Japanese. Same reason Scott Speed has a ride, they needed an american. He's there as a marketing tool.

That was a good race. Heck of a driving job by Schumacher, Fisicella did a good job too, I'm not sure what happened to Alonso in the middle laps there (when he slowed down). Rain always makes the F1 races more interesting. Makes me think they should install sprinklers on the circuits.

Cannot wait for the next races.

For MS to even qualify 6th was an acheivement. Everyone on Bridgestones were suffering badly on Saturday.

Look at the final results and you have to look to 8th place? for another Bridgestone car.

Plus MS didn't get any help from Massa, FA had Giancarlo running block for him (like a good P-2 driver and a rarity this year) and still could not hold him off.

MS is an amazing driver and he proved it this past weekend and I will sorely miss his energy when he wins. It is definatly a team effort and he shows his appreciation for the team.

FA has a lot of growing up to do. Even last year when Ferrari was getting their arses handed to them MS was a gentleman enough to give respect and congrats to FA if he beat him, even this year he always came over to FA and congradulated him.

FA just walks away after the race with even a sideways look at MS. Then during the press conference he seems to be rolling his eyes when MS is talking.

All the while Renault just took back the lead in the Constructors championship. But that does not matter FA didn't win.

I think the best man on and off the track is going to win the Championship. I am looking foward to next week.

Agreed 100%.

The difference in caliber between MS and FA - both on and off the track - was in plain view today. These guys are in a different league entirely.

Great race indeed ! Say what you want about MS but he is simply an amazing driver ... the way he took GF on the inside of T1 half on the grass just shows how badly he wants another title.

Anybody catch the commentary about how Nic Heidfeld has elevated his game since Kubica started getting all the attention? The dialogue between Matchett and Hobbs was very interesting in that they both were saying how bad that is because it just shows the team that he should have been performing at that level all along. It sure didn't sound like either of them thought it bode will for Nic's future.

Interesting that the FIA hasn't come down on Renault for violating the no-team-orders rule. Fisi clearly was faster than FA but didn't pass him for a few laps until he finally had to. I'm calling BS on the whole thing. If Schumacher and Massa had done the same thing, everyone would be calling them cheaters right now. The politics and uneven officiating is getting ridiculous. But, great race for MS. He deserved this one. Its almost painful to watch the Ferrari Dynasty celebrating after the race knowing that it will never be the same for them again.

The FIA doesn't care what French teams, manufacturers, or tire makers do (as long as they win). In fact, they will occasionally (frequently) changes the rules to help them...

That was a truly great drive by Michael.

What an amazing performance, both qualifying and race.

Superior driving and superior strategy won big time. And FA is a chump for walking right out of the car, and pouting during the press conference.

I love races in the wet with changing conditions. It's all about who has the biggest ones (or the stupidest) to be the first one out on dry tires.

Sammy, have to disagree about Speed. Sure, he got a shot because he's american, but look at his stats this season. With a marginal car, he has almost always finished above his teammate, and he has the most amount of position advancements of anyone on the grid. I don't think he's MS/KR great, and of the young guns probably isn't at the level of Kubica (who has been amazing) or Rosburg (who has floundered of late), but he is doing rather well in his first year in F1.

The big part is he is in an older chasis that has been updated. Kubica and Rosburg are in the teams best offerings.

People lost sight of what Torro Rosso is supposed to be. It was formed so Red Bull could cut the teeth of 2 drivers that were beyond F3000 ability and ready for F1 but not 100%.

Torro Rosso gave Speed and Liuzzi a chance to drive in F-1 that was not there with Red Bull.

They are in crappy cars and perform respectable but will never be front runners. For these guys to get mid pack in Quali let alone on Sunday is an achievment. I look foward to next year to see how these guys do. I am guessing they are getting new up to date cars next year. Yes?

*edit* - Also, Speed, as far as my memory serves me, has not had any major incidents on track like Sato and Ide. I laughed so hard when the Speed announcers referred to those 2 as rolling chicanes.

They're also running restricted V10s. You're right that Speed and Liuzzi are in marginal cars. But as of one or two events ago, Speed had made up 28 places in races during the season...more than anyone else on the grid. In Shanghai he got 3 slots by the end of the first sector. I think he had a couple off track excursions during the race that led to a poor finish, but him missing the Q3 session by an eyelash after kissing the wall early in Q2 was pretty amazing. I mention Kubica and Rosburg though because the BMW Saubers are not world beaters either, although they seem to have gotten a lot better as the season has progress. Either way, Kubica on the podium in his 3rd race and fighting the way he has so far (and cleanly I might add) indicates that he could be an amazing talent.

scott speed is proving that he has a level head, works with the team, and doesn't destroy the car from bad decisions on track.
that's what sponsors like to see and why they write the big checks. the image a rookie presents is as important as his work on track, he doesn't throw tantrums and when he does screw up he seems to learn from it.....which is all any team can ask
now that his feet are wet his 2nd season will be his opportunity to shine.

bring on suzuka
