Gary, I know what you are going through. I am sorry to hear the bad news. At least he is in a place where he can run whenever he wants and eat an endless supply of cheese. All we can look forward to now is the day when we can meet up with our departed pals again. If on that day I have all my old dogs licking me at once, I'll know I have truly arrived. I wish the same to you. Till then, all we have are the pictures and the memories.

12 years is not a bad run for a Dane,
they are quite a fragile breed, especially the really pedigree ones we had some in our family , none lasted that long... still sucks though, but that's the way of things. |
My dane was 7.5 years old which is still pretty good considering dane life span, his size (40" at the shoulder and 190) and his wobblers. The hardest thing right now is to get over "seeing" him out of the corner of my eye or expecting him to be in the next room. Making breakfast for my other dane was tough too.

My g/f still hears the dog door slapping...5 years after putting down her dog. I still talk to my pups 4 years later...when I'm alone in the house. Mine are buried 4' - 5' down in my back yard...when I pass by, I call their nicknames. One of those things, I guess. |
