Mickey and Goofy: Behind the Fur

Celebrity seems to make some people think they can do whatever they want:

Quote:
The Walt Disney Co. on Thursday said it took "appropriate action" against employees at its Paris theme park who were caught simulating sex while dressed as Disney characters in a digital video that has received wide attention on the Internet.

When I lived in Orlando I met a girl at a Jazz club that dressed as one of the Chip and Dale characters. She was very hot, I asked if she gets to take the outfit home and she said it stays on property.

There went that fantasy......

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fursuit

Quote:
A portion of the furry fandom exists that considers a fursuit a sexual item. Some fursuits are sold with or modified to contain provisions for sexual activity, such as openings, removable panels, and anatomically correct artificial genitalia.

Yeah, I don't get the whole "Furry" thing. Years ago I met some folks on old dial up BBSs. THis one girl sent me some art that she had done. It was really good, and not sexual, but it was all of the "Furry" variety. All people with tails, ears, whiskers, fur, etc... Maybe a couple of people that looked like elves or fairies. I just don't get it.

I don't get it either. I "discovered" the furry lifestyle when MTV did a show on it a few years ago. Some of the modifications done to the suits are...disturbing.

Like the old story about Mickey trying to divorce Minnie. As Mickey and his lawyer were leaving the court after having their case dismissed for lack of evidence, the lawyer says, "Mick, I told you there wasn't enough evidence to have the case heard on grounds of insanity."
Mickey responds, "I didn't say she was crazy. I said she was f*cking Goofy!"

You would be amazed how many characters contain really cute girls inside or gay guys. Most of the disney performers are gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but ironic when you consider the typical client.

Yup. The same uptight people that would make a huge fuss if those nice fun bachelors lived next door have no problem letting their kids hang out with them at Disneyworld.

Anyone here ever see Omaha the cat dancer?

On a different note, I once knew a guy who was into that sort of thing. He had a lifesize "Harvey" rabbit suit. Cool guy but very odd....

I have a few random issues. Never realized how deviant I am till you brought this up. Something else to discuss at therapy.... and we're just getting started on my "comet-o-death issues".

Disney is extremely up tight (read: protective) of their characters. To get a license to sell any Disney-related product will cost you $70K right off the bat. All this is extremely good for Disney as you haven't seen Mickey, Minnie and Goofy disappear like Bugs Bunny and Porky, et al. They have an image to uphold while continually advancing their characters. It's great business.

Meanwhile, anyone remember when Disney didn't allow men to wear facial hair while working in the park.

Anal to say the least.

As far as I know they still do not allow it. I know with girls one piercing in your ear and thats it. None allowed for men.

My friend had "status" as a musician there but never worked because he refused to shave his mustache. This was 15 years ago.

We were at the Florida one about a year ago and I noticed a lack of facial hair, tatoos and piercings. Maybe they are allowed now but frowned upon.

Disney represents good 'ol Americana. Clean, Protestant and Republican (ducking the flames...)

But seriously, there's reason Disneyland is still around and Six Flags Magic Mountain is closing. Image - which tatooed gang members didn't exactly bring to the positive at Magic Mountain.
