What is the Best Country?

I think the USA is the best by far. I am willing to try and understand if there is a better country overall. Take all the things that you hold near and dear to your heart and select a country that you would like to live in and call home. Keep in mind, that country should have all the comfy credits as well as a sound infra structure and a nice level of freedom to say and do. Also consider how well the country takes care of its people compared to other countries. Lastly, consider the climate and what your salery can buy you.

I think you all will agree, the USA is not perfect but it is better than anything else.

After a trip to Europe, I could have kissed US soil when I returned. I love this country, with all of its faults.

Other countries are nice places to visit, but the US is where I want to hang my hat.

Man, just took a trip through Europe and loved it. Switzerland was so fresh and clean, people very friendly and outgoing. Seemed like a nice place to live. Met a beautiful Swiss blonde and had nice conversation there....Belgrade (former Yugoslavia) Serbia was interesting in a different way. People out having a good time, surprisingly safe and welcoming, beautiful chicks everywhere, got chatted up 2x in the airport by lovely girls on my way out... Rome Italy was fantastic, however people there not quite as friendly but not bad... amazing nightlife in Rome, had a great time hanging out at an American sports bar with some ex-patriot former Americans...

Overall, somewhere in Europe is probably the answer in my opinion.
I love the US, and I wont criticize the premise of my country...however it seems to have become a segregated melting-pot where its increasingly difficult to cross cultural boundaries. LA, where I live may be the most unfriendly place that Ive ever lived in or visited... imo, many people in this country are unaware of what is going on, except whats in their own little world... their own little world is all that matters to them and they tend to not stretch out and explore outside their boundaries.

I hear Monaco is nice if you have money.

Sweden is nice if you don´t have any money and don´t intend to lift a finger to earn it.. If you do, it will be confiscated and given to the first guy.

+1 to New Zealand, although I'd have to get used to driving on the wrong side of the road. . .

Italy ain't too bad either.

My gut instinct says Italy would be great but one trip to Rome and a brief schlep around some little resorts around the north coast really isn't enough to judge a place.

I don't think anyone is qualified to make such a statement.

You happy living here? Good for you.

I would echo what the guys said above, unless you have lived in another country for five or ten years you are probably not qualified to judge what "living" there is like.

"Boring" to one means "finally having some free time" to others. . . For one, I'd love that.

I think everyone thinks their own country is the best, and usually for good reason. And I'm not talking about blind patriotism, I'm talking about well thought-out positions, logical arguments. Which leads me to believe there is no one best country - they've all got their plusses and minuses.

For me, the ideal country doesn't exist. I'm pretty happy in Canada, but not 100%. If you could move Paris or NY to Sweden or Norway that'd be my choice. Something about consistent #1 rankings on the UN scale that draws me to Norway, but I love the major cities. Maybe France or the Netherlands (Amsterdam). Looks like Europe would be my #1 choice.
