Cool USA/Canada/Mexico merger

Let's see... how to stir up some **** on a slow Saturday afternoon. The "would you buy land in Mexico" thread got me thinking.

How about that USA/Canada/Mexico merger? Come on you must have heard of this right? The Ameri-dollar and all that...

There is a conservative radio talk show that has been ranting on this for weeks and supposedly our government is behind it one hundred percent. They are planing on building a super highway from Mexico to Canada etc etc.

I'll see if I can find a link to the radio guys website where he give all the facts and figures.

Here ya go:

A merger is typically a joining of equals, the US has no equal.
Joining with lesser powers as far as economy would be a take over.

Nothing against Canada, but that would be diluting the strength of the US.
Just like you don't want to have the biggest house in the neighborhood because the cheaper houses will bring your value down. Bad move unless a huge amount of oil is discovered that we didn't know about before.

Bah it would end up like the Eu a whole bunch of countrys tied together that don't really get on or trust each other and you would end up with the rest of South America trying to join.

Anyone for a little blue pill or maybe a red one?

Okay maybe merger was the wrong term but the point being all three governments (if you believe the hype) are talking about a north American union. I don't know if this is conspiracy theory or what but there seems to be a bunch of people taking it pretty seriously.

How about a little cut and paste:

***Perhaps the most blistering criticism has come from Lou Dobbs of CNN – a frequent critic of Bush's immigration policies.

"A regional prosperity and security program?" he asked rhetorically in a recent cablecast. "This is absolute ignorance. And the fact that we are -- we reported this, we should point out, when it was signed. But, as we watch this thing progress, these working groups are continuing. They're intensifying. What in the world are these people thinking about? You know, I was asked the other day about whether or not I really thought the American people had the stomach to stand up and stop this nonsense, this direction from a group of elites, an absolute contravention of our law, of our Constitution, every national value. And I hope, I pray that I'm right when I said yes. But this is -- I mean, this is beyond belief."

What has Dobbs and a few other vocal critics bugged began in earnest March 31, 2005, when the elected leaders of the U.S., Mexico and Canada agreed to advance the agenda of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America.

No one seems quite certain what that agenda is because of the vagueness of the official declarations. But among the things the leaders of the three countries agreed to work toward were borders that would allow for easier and faster moving of goods and people between the countries. ***

See previous thread about Canada taking over the world.

We have a S***T load of oil! With more being discovered every day.

But we don't want a highway to Mexico either. Maybe north to Russia.... at least they know what freezing your arse off is all about!

There is actually a movement within the US government to do this, I have no idea how successful it will be, or if it will ever happen. But, there is a US government plan to force it.

American money now has red and blue on it. I prefer the good old black ones (Silver Certificates/Treasury notes). I haven't seen a gold certificate in a while. I can't remember what they look like.

Yipes Pat,
Twice in one week I know you are spot on and agree. Seems few are paying attention.

all upside - cheap labor from the south, rich mineral and water rights from the north and the good ol US stuck in the middle - managing it all like it should.

All in all, I think it would be great.

Yep, and in less than 6 months they'd be whining about how successful we are and could they reimmigrate south for jobs.
