The good 'ol days
This was supposidly an article in Housekeeping Monthly in the 50's. It was emailed to me by a friend, I did not write on it. I thought it was interesting to say the least.

I brought a copy of this home to my wife several years ago. She read it and laughed like hell. Then she went to one of her scrap books and pulled out the copy that her mother had given her when we got married. Her mother was actually serious when she gave it to my wife. We had a good chuckle, until I asked her if I should grade her on this...

I don't think the 50's man needed it. He was getting serviced somewhere else and no one batted an eye over it. Quote:

I vividly remember when I was about 5 or 6 yrs. old and my mom (in those days a total MILF) starting getting all decked out before my dad came home from work. I finally asked her why she was doing this and she said he had made some comment that she used to look nice when he came home every day. And this was around 1977!

My house was probably one of the 1st departures from a normal family with my dad in a bike gang and dealing drugs etc.. right in a nice neighborhood. But my grandparents were the epitome if the 50's era. My grandmother made dinner every night and grandpa was home at the same exact time every night. If I was staying with them, we had to go wash up and "get ready for dinner" before grandpa got home. Dinner was ready to be served before he got home and the moment he walked in we were to sit quietly and eat everything. After dinner grandpa would retire to the living room or the reading room and I was to leave him alone until he was ready to play with with me. Oh, and grandma would be all dressed up in a dress and heals, all dolled up for grandpa. They were probably in their late 40's at the time. This was in the 70's

...My best friend's mom STILL does the majority of this. Honest to God. Dinner is ready every single night when Dad (yea, I call him "dad" or "sir") gets home, the table is set, and we're closely on hand so that he can sit down and eat, not wait for us. After dinner, she cleans up, and he sits down and puts on hunting. One night while me and Jr (m budddy) were sitting around talking with his mom she told us she was teaching us what to expect from a good woman, and how a good woman should treat her man. And she NEVER talks to him until a few hours after dinner, after he has had some time to unwind. That's the LAST thing he wants to do. This was just over this past summer.
My mom used to do the same exact thing; whenever my dad got home from work, we'd sit right down at the table (of course, us kids were already washed and dressed for dinner) after dad took off his suit jacket and tie. We would eat, and only have discussion if it proved to the liking of my father. After dinner, he would retire to either his den, or his motorcycle, and mom and the kids would clean up. Lord help you if you had been misbehaving before daddy got home and he was in a bad mood (or any kinda mood at all, for that). In all honesty, I don't think it is that bad of a system, and I think Mom was spot on with "how a woman should treat a man." I don't see anything wrong with the traditional gender roles, and it's worked for quite awhile. Call me old-fashioned....

Both of my Grandmothers did this, even though they both worked! Hell my wife has it easy, all I want is not to be talked in the morning until I've had a cup of coffee, and give me 15 min in the evening to take off my boots. I get up first and make the coffee, I get home first so............
I think I need to renegotiate my contract. ![]()

The book in the attached link is a standard gag-gift at nearly all weddings involving Naval Officers...my wife still has her copy!

You can have the good ol' days. You can even get the b!tch to wear a burka. It just costs a nine-figure-a-year income on your part.
