MIBII. I STILL want my money back!

artplumber 10-27-2006 09:16 PM

Rollerball bad? Can't agree with you there. But then I am amused by the pacification of the masses by the "gladiators" of sport.

Nostril Cheese 10-28-2006 01:01 AM

The original Rollerball is awesome.

Especially with a good sound system

The remake is beyond bad. Just bloody awful. Has a 15 minute sequence filmed in night vision.

aknapp 10-28-2006 07:53 AM

Fargo. I sat through 45 minutes and didn't laugh once. Black comedy? Uhhhhh, sure, OK.... And the "Minnesota accents" were atrocious.

Phantasm. So bad, it was funny.

svandamme 10-28-2006 09:09 AM

troy
alexander
italian job remake
the morning after
fast and furious (all of em)
Alfy remake
AI
that recent WW1 airplane movie

in general , i hate most recent movies because of the CGI gone over the top...especially true for all the stinking remakes, and even more so if it's a remake of a Michael Caine movie...

scottmandue 10-28-2006 09:15 AM

Saw "shes the man" on the airplane, made me want to ask for a parachute.

I don't remember the name of it but one of the SNL stars did a movie where he was an ultra rich kid who got drunk all the time and chased a giant penguin... that was a stinker.

scottmandue 10-28-2006 09:19 AM

Stijn,

You didn't like Troy?

It was was frigin long but it held my intrest, I particularly like the good king Vs bad king angle... but then I caught it on cable and missed the first third of it.

Brian 162 10-28-2006 09:28 AM

John Travolta made a real stinker called Battlefield Earth. I think that was the title.

the special effects ruined it for me
so did the fight scenes... to bloody much.

have you ever seen anyone move like that??

breaking the lance with a swing of his shield
you try breaking a lance with a shield...

the movie could have been great, by Hollywood had to put in some Matrix effects in the mix... looks more like ballet then a fight

i'm pretty sure that nobody in those days , fougt anything like that... the Myths and Legend of Achillis described how he could not be kileld, and his only weak spot was his heel.. but they did not describe that he fought like a ballerina/fairy...

it was a strange movie ,definately not his best
but i've seen way worse then that one... Starship troopers anyone....?Wing Commander??

pwd72s 10-28-2006 09:44 AM

Lets face it...the list of GOOD movies would be much shorter. Hollyweird is wondering why ticket sales are off? Uh...just maybe it's the lack of product quality?

Steve PH 10-28-2006 10:08 AM

"Be Cool" the follow up to rather good (from what I can remember) Get Shorty, sucked very, very hard indeed.

I do wonder if any of the producers having sat through the test screening didn't think to themselves "that is *****, can we really get away with releasing this?"

Really Bad Things

sammyg2 10-28-2006 10:16 AM

Maybe that's why they call them entertainment and not documentaries.

I don't really care if a movie is accurate, as long as it's entertaining. When a so called documentary gets it wrong, that's when I start yelling at the TV.

Although I still don't get that Napolean dynamite. No entertainment value there, at least not for me.

Fargo grew on me.

svandamme 10-28-2006 10:21 AM

well , i don't find it entertaining to look at things who are not possible according to real life Physics...

take teh first Indiana Jones Movie
the stunts looked believable , why , because somebody actually did them, the fancy effects were kept for the supernatural things... like the opening of the Ark..

if they would make that movie now, the same stunts would look wrong , why, because they would be done in CGI, and it would be exagerated...
i think the closest thing to I J would be the Mummy or the Scorpion King
2 movies trying to recapture the IJ success, neither comign even close to Indiana Jones... Brandon Frasier wasn't bad, but he's no Harrison Ford

I was trying to remember the name of that one... oh yeah, stinky poo!

It was so over the top at times I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be a comedy or not.

God, Star***** Poopers was awful. I love the book, have read it at least 10 times...and was so disappointed by the movie I wanted to cry.

But what do you expect from the director who brought us "Showgirls"?
