That came out when I was in HS or just graduated. One of my all-time favorite movies. My son loves it too (he's 16).

Sorry, never one of my favorites. I never found movies about self-absorbed priveleged suburban teenagers appealing. (Having been one myself and all...)

Sorry also. Some movies hold up to time. This one doesn't unless your stuck in the 80's.

One of my faves, but then again I'm a child of the 80s.

And yes, I'd have boned Molly Ringwald in a heartbeat given the chance.

I finally watched 16 Candles last week. Man, what a hot 944 Jake has in that movie!

My brother and I used to be able to recite the lines from that movie.

I watched it a couple of weeks ago and I think it still stands up well. The issues discussed in the film are still the same issues kids in H.S. deal with today.

Don't you forget about me...

You say "stuck in the 80's" like its a bad thing...

Now, the all-important quotes from the movie:

Note: my favorite, the anarchy one, was already quoted here.

Screws fall out all the time, the worlds' an imperfect place.

Does Barry Manillow know that you raid his wardrobe?

And of course, Brian's letter at the end...
Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole saturday in detention for whatever it is we did wrong, but we think you're crazy for making us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out, is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basketcase, a princess, and a criminal. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, The Breakfast Club.

-Z-man.

I'll compare that to another 80's movie that I just watched again for the 20th time, "Spinal Tap". Talk about a film that holds up well and still makes me laugh. I still like some 80's movies, but they are more cult type like "Repo Man". I can go on and on. I think I'm just not a big John Hughes fan.

"A lot o' people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch o' unconnected incidents 'n things. They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice o' coincidence that lays on top o' everything. Give you an example; show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness."

Remember when Bender was crawling around/above the ceiling and he starts telling a joke about a blond and a poodle (or something)...

I ALWAYS wanted to hear the punchline to that one.
