I am so SICK of this John Kerry blowup

G*******t, this symbolizes everything that is wrong with politics right now.

Here we are, 1 week from a pretty important election that is going to shape the future:

-troop levels
-economy
-taxes
-budgets and deficits
-privacy
-etc.

And what are we hearing about 24 hours a day from the media, the White House, and the Dems? We're hearing this STUPID, CHEAP, WORTHLESS SNIPING about whether Kerry insulted our troops.

Please - just stop. It DOESN'T MATTER.

I DON'T CARE whether Kerry made a faux pass, botched a joke, or really does think the troops are uneducated. I DON'T CARE that Bush thinks Kerry owes the world+his dog an apology.

And to John McCain - I like you a lot, guy, but you look like the cheapest of cheap pol hacks by getting into this. Just stop it, please!

Stop assuming that voters are going to be swayed one way or the other over this idiocy. Stop assuming that this is the "October Surprise." Stop assuming that we WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS WHEN WE GO TO COCKTAIL PARTIES! Why don't you elected guys try solving a problem, coming up with a strategy, reaching a compromise..... On any issue. Something, anything!

Okay, I feel better now.

PS - I'm talking about the media and pols here, not PP members. I love that kind of sniping.

I misunderstood the joke when I heard it too. Then I heard his non-apology and his explanation and understood.

He put the emPHASIS in the wrong sylABLE.

It was the sentances following the non-apology that impressed me. He really railed on all of them. Where was this John Kerry 2 years ago?

Wow, shocking...US politics being reduced to "gotcha" sound bites instead of issues....never happens.

Nucular
Strategery
Cheney's hunting incident
Bush choking on a pretzel
Bush's facial resemblance to a monkey
etc, etc, etc...

When's the last time you heard a press secretary or a major political figure (McCain for one) talk about ANY of those things? NEVER

This is yet another Rovarian misdirection. If you fall for it, you get the government you deserve.

It was early in the Presidency...I think he was watching baseball or something like that and eating pretzels. Apparently one got caught in his throat. Big deal for a couple days in the press...

See, that's exactly the type of sniping I'm talking about. When it's on some Web board, sure, fine. But when it's all the news I can get on CNN/CNBC/... there's a problem.

Thanks for making my point, Rodeo....

Do you know that the president's press secretary went on a 5 minute rampage about the comment? Do you know that McCain and every major Repub pol in the country issued press releases by the truckload.

I guess your "point" is that's all ok ... the problem lies in responding to these lying attacks.

Yes, Rodeo, that's exactly my point. It's all A-OK with me.

I congratulate you on your reading comprehension skills.

And if you are suggesting that the press should not report a 5 minute rant by the President's Press Secretary, or the strong statement from the front-running Republican presidential candidate, you are sadly mistaken.

The feigned outrage started all this -- pure Rove -- if you are pissed at anyone, get pissed at them.

The pot continues to call the kettle black! Who'd a thunk it!

Coming from the one who pounces on EVERY single thing the right does or says, your comments are truly laughable.

I'm not a Republican or a Democrat as I'm not an American, but I heard Kerry say the same thing-- "lying attacks". He said the comment on camera! What is the lie? It is an obvious inference that if you don't study (i.e. ignorant or lazy), you will end up as a soldier stuck in Iraq. Where is the lie?

BTW, I think both Bush and Kerry ain't da brightest. Same goes for our PM - Harper (even though I voted for him-- the other guy Martin was an obvious crook having blatantly stolen millions).

Okay, one more time for the comprehension-impaired (i.e. Rodeo) with highlights:

You know what your problem is, Cowtown? You're focused on SUBSTANCE. As if privacy, the economy, the war, education, health care, transportation, etc. are important issues compared to Kerry's anger at Dubya's anger over Kerry's remark. Get with it, dude. Lehrer is a pathetic addiction. You should be watching American Superstar and Entertainment Tonight, like everyone else. Politics is no different from soft drinks. You watch the commercials, hum the jingle and choose the most fear-oriented, negative candidate.
