The data to support my statements is all over the web in the form of scientific studies, and has been referred to numerous times in this thead(and probably even been linked to)

No, this does not apply to both genders, as i already stated in a previous post- though one could make the case that the 'unmoraled' part does i guess.

Simply put, they are unmoraled people.

I also find it utterly impossible to relate to them, as the thought of banging some guy in his hairy asss is enough to make me puke in my mouth a little.

well the facts say otherwise
most childmolesters are strait, and in a family
hint step-dad molesting little girls
so much for family values !!!

most STD inc aids are thru hetro sex

most people who boast about their own
or worry about others morals are
in fact not moral themselfs

many gays donot do anial
esp in the post aids era
but oral was allways more common

You go on and on about primitive blah blah. I ask you this, would you consider the time period of Einstein more or less primitive than now? I am sure you do not consider him "less intelligent". Why do you have such a bigotry toward people that lived in the past? You feel that you are somehow better or more intelligent because you drive a car? I suppose you feel superior to the dirt poor guy in Africa who barely has a sharp stick to his name?

Again, why do people feel that Christians are the intolerant ones.

Look, I do not view Christians as less enlightened than myself. But there are Christians and Christians just like there are Muslims and Muslims. I am only intolerant of deliberate and dangerous ignorance.

The old testament was put together in an extraordinarily haphazard fashion from rumours, various second and third hand stories, gossip, accepted wisdom, superstition, anecdotal morality tales, and a bit of history - to the extent there actually was recorded history at the time. It was written in various languages that have been more or less successfully translated - a subject about there is much debate. It has no one coherent source - that much is clear. It is internally inconsistent to the point where anyone at all can interpret anything at all into it. It is brutal and primitive because it was born of brutal and primitive times. It is full of tales of extraordinary violence, rape, incest, fraticide, infanticide and bestiality.

But you want to look to this very dodgy source to decide for yourself, absolutely and for all purposes, whether it is OK for your pal to play the pink oboe, or your daughter to sip from the furry cup - or not??? THIS is the basis of YOUR moral judgement about someone elses sexual proclivities that are as much your business as that person's taste in pizza (as someone here pointed out)???

You may as well read tea leaves or sheep's entrails.

Yes, this is the kind of deliberate ignorance of which am intolerant.

So, Dottore has made his choice.

I think another way to view this (the way I do anyway) is that I respect a person's right to believe whatever they want, but that does not necessarily mean I respect their beliefs. Tom Cruise has every right to believe in Scientology, but that does not mean that I have to acknowledge that there is any validity to his beliefs. I have no respect for Scientology.

Deliberate ignorance should not be tolerated. I agree.

Somehow I doubt it.

Just as it is crystal clear to you that the Bible is an unreliable bunch of hooey, it is at least as clear to Christians what the Bible does. And what Jesus said. And frankly, Jesus' life and deeds and remarks are not disputed as historical fact. I mean, not by the professionals. Historicians do not throw a blanket of doubt over those events. Amateurs do that. Historicians consider Jesus life to be one of the most well-documented events in ancient times.

At any rate, Jesus said he did not come to judge. He came to divide. Christians see this very very clearly. WE decide. All of Christianity boils down to Jesus question to Peter. "Who do you say I am?"

Either you believe Jesus is the world's most hilarious hoax......or you believe Jesus is who He said He is. Either a lunatic......or the Son of God. Pretty wide range there, but there is no middle ground. You seem to reject the assertion that Jesus is the Son of God.

You made your choice. Other conclusions are quite defensible, but you've decided to place your eggs in this basket. Rejection. Good luck with that.

If the Bible is so clear and the case so convincing, why do so many Christians turn away from Christianity? Shouldn't the overwhelming evidence ensure their faith?

Another serious question.

Wow, you sound like a subject matter expert. You must have spent years studying the old testament.
Funny thing is, I do not agree with your assesment at all. Not one bit. And I can honestly say that I have studied it a great deal. I am not yet an expert and I may never be, but I spend time several days a week reading it, thinking about it, and discussing it with others who are very well versed and are closer to being biblical experts that I. None of them would agree with your assumption either.
In fact my senior pastor has a master's degree on that particular subject and has spent 35 years studying and discussing the bible and he would strongly disagee with you. Are you more of an expert that he is? Are you smarter than he is? I seriously doubt it.

So please, explain your qualifications that make you such an expert. That is, unless you simply got that off an anti-christian website or just made it all up.
No, a link to some whack-job website put up by a Christian hater will not do.

Actually, there is substantial middle ground. It is not a choice between “liar, lunatic or lord” as some would say.

Take a look at these links. (You might want to browse this whole site as well, I find it to be unbiased, well written, honest, accurate and balanced. Pay special attention to the articles on the history of Christianity. It wasn’t always what it is today.) These articles point to a different Jesus than “liar, lunatic or lord.”

http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_jckr.htm
http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_jcpa5.htm

There is a lot of info in these articles (and many more articles about this on that web site), but these quotes stand out in my mind:

Quote:

[Jesus was] An observant Jew who had a special relationship with God -- a kinship so close that Jesus referred to God by the familiar term "Abba."

Quote:

Jewish Christians circa 30 CE appear to have believed that he was a Jewish reformer, teacher, prophet, and native healer, but not a deity.

I get the impression that he was a profound and wise religious philosopher. His belief in god was so substantial that he used this term “Abba.” You won’t like this analogy (don’t take it too literally), but in my mind, it’s kind of like being so close to your football coach that you say “he is like a father to me,” or something along those lines. His followers either mistakenly took his usage of the term Abba literally or the message got “transformed” by the time it got written down.

Didn't you hear? there is no god. Gassy said so.
IIRC He also told a bunch of people on this board to go F themselves.
