How Bout Dem Cowboys!!!
Man, I was completely shocked by yesterday's game. There is no way I thought the Cowboys would beat the Colts, much less pretty much dominate them. If you look at the game, the Cowboys shut them down pretty good in the second half and were finally able to run the ball and grind out the clock (it helps that the Colts run D is horrible).
More importantly, how about ROMO!!! I think the Boys have finally found a keeper at quarterback and he was a freakin undrafted free agent. His story is actually pretty cool, he was a QB in college where Sean Payton (former Cowboys offensive coordinator) used to be an assistant. Payton saw him at training camp and told Parcells to take a look. Romo was invited to training camp not to work out, but to be one of the scrubs who threw balls to the receivers who WERE there to work out. Parcells liked the kid and they signed him to their practice squad after the draft. Since then, he has just been hanging around and slowly working his way up the depth chart. Huge step forward for Romo yesterday, Parcells put the ball in his hands with 2 minutes left, results = two first down passes to ice the game. NEVER would have done that before, Parcells would be three runs and punt. I'm a happy Cowboys fan today. Course that will all change when they blow it against Tampa on Thursday...

The problem is that until the INT returned for a TD they didn't do much on offense.
I am a huge Romo fan and I can't believe it took Parcells so long to sit Bledsoe. The defense is tough. I went to the game here in Charlotte against the Pnthers and they made Delhomme look like a rookie. And yesterday Manning looked like he was lost at times. The team is balanced now. The schedule is good, with only 2 games with winning teams and 4 games at home. In the NFC there is no dominant team. Look at the Seahawks yday.. and the Bears are not as impressive as 4 weeks ago (80 yards in the 1st half against the Jets??!!??). And the Cowboys are better than their record. The next 2 games are huge... a 2-0 would mean quasi-playoffs with a bye... I am enjoyng the moment.. but looking fwd to Thursday's game! |

If they could only get rid of the jerk owner Jerry Jones... One of our pilots at my last company used to fly him around in his private jet. Jerry was such a dickwad that he left the ops after a while, then wrote a book about the experience.
He then was hired with American Airlines in Dallas. Jones found out about it and called AA, telling them to fire him or the Cowboys would never fly AA again. AA did and the brown material hit the fan. The pilot won a "non specified" amount in the lawsuit (both AA and Jerry Jones lost) and now works only because he likes what he is doing. Jerry got what he deserved IMHO and the team will be better when he slinks off somewhere.

I'm not a Jerry Jones fan (is anyone a JJ fan....except maybe Jerry Jones?), but I was born and raised a Cowboys fan so it isn't something I can just give up. If I was picking a team to follow, it probly wouldn't be the Cowboys, but I don't really have a choice.
The only good news on the ownership horizon is that once JJ retires, his son Stephen is going to take over and most people feel that Stephen Jones is a very good guy. We'll see. Meanwhile, I'll take the playoffs this year and enjoy watching Romo develop.

Good for Romo, good to see someone show Indy as beatable. It's the second time Bledsoe has been shown up by an "inferior" second-stringer, and we all know about what happened the first time. He's good when he's on, but wildly unpredictable.
Although I'm happy for 'em, I still have difficulty thinking of the Cowboys as a bunch of goons and misfits that couldn't get signed anywhere else (hell, even the Raiders wouldn't take some of 'em), led by a crotchety old traitorous bum. I have a hard time liking 'em.

Ah yes, i'll never forget that day at the vet when we cheered with glee as M. Irvin was carted off the field for the final time.
It was like a present from God himself. ![]() |

How Bout Dem Cowboys!!!
and we will now call the rest of the season the "Drew Bledsoe Fairwell Tour" (although some team will pick him up as a backup even though he clearly does not like it)
