				Automotive Quiz for the week

Here's an automotive quiz. I was at Toyota corp. hdqtrs. a few months ago and snuck this shot on a job. What are these engineers and techs doing to this Lexus? Or, what is that contraption on the trunk lid? First one to correctly answer will win a prize donated by someone else. Sorry, I'm not in a position to give any of my possessions away. If none of you knuckleheads guess correctly by turkey day, I'll provide the answer. Happy Thanksgiving, Sherwood | ||

Testing the opening and closing of the bootlid? No, too obvious.......... They're testing the pre-production "boil a goat in your boot" option. Great for picnics and barbecues.

Flux Capacitor v2.0 From Toyota's latest press release... "...the next version of the Flux Capacitor v2.0 (FC2) is externally mounted, freeing up valuable interior space for the 26" LCD HDTV, WEE or PS3, or any of the other driver diversions found in the latest TRD (Toyota Realtime Diversion) catalog..."

I thought it might be trunk lid testing equipment until I saw the California plates. Those tests are usually run on prototypes, not registered vehicles.

Thats Easy- Electro Static Beam Blanker

The performance of a charged particle beam blanker in a high resolution lithography system is determined primarily by spurious deflection during beam switching. To achieve an optimum blanker design, therefore, it is necessary to calculate spurious deflection as a function of the design parameters. The spurious deflection of a beam blanker which is composed of two pairs of blanking plates centred about a knife edge is evaluated using analytical methods. The results derived from these analytical methods explain all the important characteristics of such a beam blanker. Despite the rough approximations, the analytical results agree well with more accurate numerical calculations. DUH!!
