Next big Speed Channel show should be....
'Cones'
Autocross for cash. Classes based on dyno verified hp/wt. 5 runs, $200 per car per run into the kitty. Speed Channel matches the pot at the end. This would cost near nothing to produce and would be big time watch!

To flesh it out a bit......two different courses, one higher speed and one tight. Total time is your score.

Autocross is really fun to do, but most would rather hammer their thumbs flat than watch.

I was getting a nav system installed in my Bronco, and while I was waiting I was treated to the star studded cast of "Maximum Overdrive" on the Speed Channel, the one where all the vehicles become homicidal maniacs. Written and directed by Stephen King, apparently while he was on drugs or something.
Awful. |

The next SPEED show will probably be some stupid NASCAR game show. The good thing about the NASCARization of Speedvision is I watch less TV.

I love autocross racing.
I hate watching it.

Who's to say an autocross can't be high speed just because most are (in the states, anyway). I love watching the Stig wring out the latest wheels @ 10/10ths on Top Gear, especially when he's listening to Puccini on his audio system. It's what, a <2 min course? Works for me. It's a better contest of man and machine than drag racing which is mostly machine, and oh, there's a driver too (for the most part). Sherwood |

I'm not sure many Porsche owners, for example, would want Chip Foose's crew to steal their car and "overhaul" it. What if your family arranged to have your 911 "stolen" and customized? Don't forget the DVD player in the headliner and the dual 10" subs. Would there be some discomfort next Thanksgiving with the family?
Most of the show's victoms start off with a car that's borderline cosmetically and mechanically. The only direction to go is an improvement. Take my Mercedes Dodge Caravan for example. It sorta qualifies as an "import". Foose can have at it if he wants. Sherwood |
