Happy Thanksgiving to all you guys n' gals.
I'm smoking a bird. What are the rest of you doing?

Jeff 11-23-2006 05:13 AM

Eating at the Out- Laws.
Will be smoking ribs tomorrow. What kind of smoker? What type of wood? Did you brine it first?

Stuck in a hotel in San Jose, CA with no place open to eat so I'm friggin hungry. I actually can't wait to leave in another hour so I can actually find some food in the airport, probably the only place where business' are actually open today.

Working on Thanksgiving sucks (but I should be thankful I have a good job, I suppose).

Electric smocker. Brand ?. I used hickory chips and applewood. I screwed up and didn't thaw it in time to brine it. But it was still good. Smoked ribs mmmmm!!!!

Agreed and I was stuck between Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Dubai... Thanksgiving was held a day late and with Papa John's pizza as we had to eat off of the jet yesterday.

Still am thankful of life and how its going so far. Could be better but could be far worse.

Linda and I didn't cook a bird yesterday, that fell to my brother, so we're going to do one today. I think we're going to combine the Jacques & Julia (Jacques Pepin and Julia Child) method of turkey cooking with roasting it on the grill. Will let you know how this turns out.

My wife did cook pies yesterday, a fabulous Pecan pie, and the usual punpkin pie. I think she used a recipe out of Cook's Illustrated for the pecan. Their recipes are almost always very good.

Ah, one of my favorite publications! Awsome recipies in there.:)

Did my turkey in the smoker yesterday, cooked it over apple wood. Only problem was, with the strong wind and rain , I had a hard time controlling the heat. Still came out pretty good, just took alot longer than I had planned.
