Homebuilt aircraft metal working
I ran across this during a web search, and thought it looked pretty neat.
Particularly the engine turned firewall, and welded up aluminum lower cowling. It's an Acro Sport II, two seater. ![]() Other pics at: http://allshops.org/cgi-bin/community/communityalbums.cgi?action=openalbum&albumid=9980141947454 |

Pat, We do that all the time on the mill with a piece of round nylon. It also helps to case harden steel. Cool pics and project.

Its called engine turning and as Duke says, is very easy to do. Looks nice and makes some jobs shine.
Looks like a Lyc 0-320 or 0-360 inside. Should fly nicely!

Tim, I want your job, screw all this engineering nonsense. All I get to do is look at airplanes on paper, you actually get to play with them.

I want my job too (full time that is). Unfortunately, I am also an engineer by day (special machine design). Too bad we live in such a sue happy times, if I was not so scared of getting sued and health insurance was not so pricey, I would quit my day day job in a heartbeat and play in my shop all day on airplanes. ![]()
