How ironical is it that here so many have 4WD SUVs that are not really exploited for their capabilities, while it seems they would be much needed over there.

Russia has the great misfortune that it gets really cold there, so many pavement types won't stand the weather, and on top of that most of the rivers flow to the north, and melt first in the south turning vast stretches of the country into what you see in the photos.

That's a sample of what the German's faced when they invaded, with much crappier trucks.

Amazing, isn't it. In actuality, the military/industrial complex that Eisenhower warned about demanded the cold war for their own profits.

Pretty simple. At least three times during the existence of the Soviet Union, the US government took steps to bail them out of trouble so that they could continue to exist. Their disintegration in 1989 took the power elites in this country be complete surprise, hence their desperate need for a replacement as fast as they could.

Its just a god damn shame the Chinese wouldn't play ball and be Mr. Bad Guy. It would have been so easy.....everything black and white.....another 50 years of cold war. So much tougher to justify spending the half of the US budget on defense when you are fighting morons with AK-47s and a bad hair cut. Hell, you even have to go out and start the wars youself.....really no fun....

(I'm currently ducking, waiting for the ocean of 9/11 pictures that will surely flow from my 'start the wars yourself comment')
