Anyone see "Deja Vu"?
I thought it was pretty good. I thought that Jim Caviezel as the bad guy was only so-so, and they should have built his character better. Some of the film critics said it was difficult to follow, time travel movies always have that problem. On a scale of 1-10, I gave it a 7. To someone whose seen the real muddy Mississippi, the underwater scenes at the end don't work, but then again if it was really in the Mississippi, you wouldn't see squat. Those underwater scenes were done at Warner Bros. in a tank in the same stage where "Perfect Storm" was filmed. The clarity of the water was unbelievable, you could see very, very clearly to the bottom of a 25' tank. We used filters that would clear the water to about 3 microns.

just got back from the movie. pretty good I thought. I especially enjoy watching movies shot in my area so I can pick out places I know and check the liberties they take in the changing locations. Exit sign for Bayou Beouf business district? hahaha good one. Exit sign Bayou Beouf 9 miles?? anyway... I enjoyed the movie and the special effects. it's a shame I missed the Stephensville explosion Hugh invited me to come watch by 1/2 hour or so, and the ferry explosion. would have been exciting to watch in person. So true about the Mississippi River though. you'd have a hard time seeing through a glass of that water much less anything underwater in that river. even in the clearest bayou here, you might have a couple feet visability. sorry to say, but sometimes filling a pool from a city hydrant, it's just as bad.

Wouldn't you know it, I went to the movies yesterday and we watched DejaVu. My thoughts? A mostly entertaining movie, carried my Denzels confidence in his role, but burdened with a implausible and muddy story line with outlandish, sometimes laughable, Bruckheimer iconography. The effects? ![]()

We put an 800 cubic inch engine in the Hummer that put over 500 HP to the rear wheels. In fact, we built three of them. That thing would lay rubber from a rolling 5 mph about 80 feet.
800 gallons of gasoline and 2,000 feet of primacord on the ferry. We "rented" the ferry from the Crescent City ferry commission, and had to return it when done. We ended up only paying for a complete paint job, in fact, that actually ferry is operational today between Algiers and New Orleans.

Yeah, "Wild Hogs" John Travolta, Tim Allen and Martin Lawrence. We blew up what was supposed to be a biker bar just outside of Santa Fe.
