I like Glenturret, IIRC, its the oldest continuously operated scotch distillery. Also, IIRC, it can't be called Scotch unless they get the water from a certain limestone aquifer in Scotland.

Just looking at my shelf:
There's a bottle of 18 next to a 25yo Talisker, a 1992 Longrow, a 15yo Springbank, a cask strength Springbank, a whole shelf full of different Ardbegs (1977, 1978, some 10 & 17yo's, Uigeadail and 'Very Young'), a couple of Glenfiddich 21yo 'Havana Reserve' (which you can't get in the USA as it's aged in Cuban Rum casks, shame), a couple of 1982 Macallan 18's, a 1974 Glenrothes...you get the picture. Ain't life great!! Unfortunately, the bulk of my collection is still at my old house, but I should be picking that up shortly, former spouse willing! I'll pour myself an Ardbeg 10 and turn in for the night. Here's to you all and your good health, Slainte!

If any of you get to the UK, try Monkey Shoulder. Its a blend but for a confirmed bourbon drinker who was then spoiled by Balvinie, MS is worth trying.
Price is descent, about $38 or so in the UK and no, its not imported yet. They sell everything they bottle at home right now...

Rick, When you empty that 15 year old bottle, try some 12 year old Doublewood and see the difference. It is noticable and well worth trying. Either of the above are a very nice addition whilst cleaning your .45 auto after a hard day at the range! ![]() Joe

Huge on Lagavulin. I usually keep a bottle in the cupboard.
In 2001, it cost about $40 per bottle, then made its way up to about $55 per bottle last year... so I went into the liquor store here in CA a few weeks ago...and it had shot up to $83 per bottle!! Guy at the store claims that the prices are controlled by the state. There were rumours a few years ago about a fire in the distillery which cut supplies and may have caused prices to go up...not sure if this is true or not. arcsine thanks for the tip on the distillers edition... the taste is amazing and nothing comes close... but its probably not for everyone http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagavulin_Single_Malt ![]() |

great idea. I am malt whisky fan. I have a about 20 single malts on the go at present, and I agree with your statement. I love them all , and part of the pleasure is the anticipation of considering one's night cap. Im blessed with as partner who not only can heel/toe, but enjoys a single malt and often comes home with a new bottle. She draws the line at Laphroig and Lagavulin. I love em all. With one exception. Cardhu. IMHO- insipid rubbish.

When I'm trollin' I like Glenfiddich or livet. Funny thing is, I can't stand Whiskey... JD, Makers, Knob creek or another others really. Yet I love Scotch... mmm. |
